13/14U Rock Summer Championships: Takeaways

We continued our summer tournament circuit this past weekend with the 13/14U Rock Summer Championships in Franklin, Wisconsin. This event targeted some of the up-and-coming 2028/2029 prospects from the state, as well as a couple surrounding states. Read on below to see which players stood out to our scouting staff from the event. 

13u 

BennieBoys 13U

SS Cruz Cook (Harlem, 2029)
Cook, standing at a thin and proportionally athletic 5-foot-4, 110-frame, had himself a game, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs in the BennieBoys’ 14-4 mercy rule win Friday night. The left-handed hitting infielder’s performance included a double and pair of RBI singles, one of which was to the opposite field. Mechanically, displayed a short stride, flat bat path, efficient hip rotation, and repeatable front foot timing. With the ability to drive the ball to the opposite field and room for physical development, Cook profiles as a crafty top of the order bat. 

SS/RHP Braxton Bruns (Rochelle, 2029)
Bruns showed well on both sides of the ball this weekend on a BennieBoys’ roster that made a deep run. On the mound, Bruns pitched well in an elimination game but flashed more than just a stat line. Listed at 5-foot-10, 130 pounds, the two-way athlete stands in a long-levered frame that displays fluid movement patterns across the diamond. Bruns showed off a relatively effortless delivery that was coupled with a whippy, quick arm action. At the plate, the 2029 graduate was all over the barrel with numerous extra-base hits and a smooth swing that adjusted well to offspeed. Bruns’ athleticism showed in the field as well where he flashed a composed glove that made no error in adjusting angles. With a multitude of time left before Bruns reaches the critical years of his prep career, the athletic Rochelle attendee looks to be a name-to-follow in Illinois’ 2029 class.

UTIL Bo Lundquist (Rochelle, 2028)
Another Rochelle name from the BennieBoys team that finished as runners-up this weekend, Lundquist made noise at the plate and showed well in front of our staff. Lundquist showed well on Sunday as he notched a couple of towering extra-base hits that showed off a physical bat. Lundquist’s physical frame (5-foot-9, 140 pounds) showed lean strength throughout and ability to move well inside the box. Lundquist was able to get his bat around quickly and kept his barrel through the zone - evident in his towering home run hit to left field.

Hitters U13 Navy 2029

MIF Cael Ebert (Wauwatosa East, 2029)
Ebert presents a slender and athletic 5-foot-4 and 110-pound frame but makes the most of it as the left-handed hitter went 2-for-3 with two doubles, including the walk-off mercy rule hit on Friday. The leadoff hitter showed a simple contact-based line-drive approach, letting his hands do the work and driving the ball to all parts of the ballpark. Ebert additionally showed an aptitude for situational awareness, producing quality AB after quality AB. Defensively, the shortstop showed smooth, athletic actions. He showed solid makeup across the board throughout the entire week. 

OF Matthew Nolan (Greendale, 2029) 
A left-handed hitter, Nolan presents a 5-foot-7, 132-pound frame. He showed an ability to drive the baseball with a unique hand setup, which allowed him to keep his hands flat through the baseball. Nolan sinks into his legs with a simple toe-tap acting as the timing mechanism with rotational torque through his hips. 

OF/RHP Oliver Peltz (Atwater Elementary, 2029)
Peltz had a busy Friday; starting on the mound, the right-handed pitcher showed athletic mechanics, with the fastball sitting in the low 70s and topping out at 74 mph, also flashing a sharp curveball that generated empty swings. At the plate, the right-handed hitter uses all of his athletic 5-foot-9, 140-pound frame, setting up in an athletic stance with a rotational bat coil, and gets into a position to drive the baseball, with his three RBI bases-clearing triple on the day, breaking the scoring wide open. The outfielder moves well, drawing on plenty of athleticism. Overall, Peltz shows an athletic profile that translates to many aspects of his game.

RHP/CIF Cooper Graham (Mukwonago, 2029)
Graham's 6-foot, 160-pound frame offers a physical presence, and it plays accordingly. On Friday, he had an impressive no-doubt three-run bomb to left field. The right-handed hitter has a quiet, balanced setup at the plate, with an ability to generate power with bat speed and obvious strength. An imposing guy in the box, Graham will be a guy to follow as he continues to grow and add even more strength. 

C Jake Barth (Oak Creek, 2029)
Barth, presents an athletic 5-foot-5, 134-pound foot frame that will be projectable in the future.  He had a loud day at the plate Friday night, going 3-for-4 behind the dish with two doubles, an RBI single, and he scored three times to be a big part of Hitters Navy’s 15-0 victory. He showcased a strong ability to wait back on the offspeed as he sat on a curveball to smack a backside double down the line. 

14U

Bay Port

RHP Eli Jourdan (Bay Port, 2028)
Jourdan, posing at a physical 5-foot-10, 175-pound frame, put together a clean performance in Bay Port’s close Friday morning 5-3 win. The right-hander displayed high level command of his fastball, consistently throwing it for strikes on the outside corner to get ahead of hitters; utilizing the elevated fastball as a putaway location. Mechanically, showed a short arm swing, ¾ arm slot, easy arm speed, and an upper half lean causing a slightly gloveside offset stride and landing spot. His fastball sat from 75-77 mph, topping at 79; backed by a true 1/7 o’clock curveball thrown around the plate and sitting at 67-68 mph, which kept hitters off of his fastball throughout the outing.  

Cangelosi Sparks - Byrdak

SS TJ Burgos (St. Rita, 2028)
Burgos, exhibiting a wiry and proportionally athletic 5-foot-9, 120-pound frame, made a big impact offensively going 2-for-3 with four RBI’s in the Sparks’ Thursday afternoon play-in game. The right handed hitting infielder cleared the bases with a second inning double, and later lined an RBI single to right field, demonstrating a center to opposite field approach. Mechanically, displayed a quick load, toe tap, short stride, and feel for changing body positioning depending on pitch location. Burgos profiles as a top of the order bat with room for total physical development over the coming years.  

C/RHP Jack Schapendonk (St. Rita, 2028)
Schapendonk showcased a fuller, athletic frame with a 6-foot-1, 170-pound build. On the mound, the right-handed pitcher showed athleticism with a whippy arm action that saw a fastball that sat in the mid-to-upper 70s and topped at 79 mph, flashing a breaking ball with quality movement. At the plate, the right-handed hitter showcased a simple setup with a leg kick that allowed the rising freshman to get into a strong position to hit. He did have a slightly upward swing path but showed athletic hands. The frame and athleticism of Schapendonk are present things to follow. 

LHP Dylan Jones (Lemont, 2028)
Jones showed a 6-foot, 140-pound frame on Sunday, with it being clear that there is plenty of room for strength gains. The left-handed pitcher worked with a 75-77 mph fastball and mid-60s breaker with sharp action, and an over-the-top release point. Jones worked from an athletic position on the mound, incorporating his legs to a fair degree, and getting down the mound well. The lefty also sported one of the better pickoff moves of the tournament, getting multiple runners leaning throughout the outing. 

SS Joe Beranek (Lemont, 2028)
Beranek, a 5-foot-10, 140-pound athletic frame had a strong game against Forceout this Saturday. He ended the game drawing three walks and collecting a stolen base. Although he didn’t get a hit, Beranek still impressed with his swing and presence in the box. He showed excellent plate discipline and confidence in the box. Beranek did show his swing on a pair of deep foul balls. It’s a strong balanced swing that is short and direct to the ball. He just missed some pitches but stayed extremely disciplined and only swung at pitches he could handle.

Cangelosi Sparks 14U - Bullington

SS/RHP Peter Pignatello (Benet Academy, 2028) 
Pignatiello presents an athletic 5-foot-11,150-pound frame; the left-handed bat showed a simple approach with a rhythm, looking to place balls gap to gap. Pignatiello finished the game 1-for-3 to help the victory over the Rawlings Tigers. Defensively, he has soft hands, the ability to throw from different arm angles, and awareness of internal clock. In the fourth inning, he showcased his range and footwork, making a difficult play in the six hole. Overall, Pignatiello has an impressive skill set and more room for growth and development in the future. 

RHP Jack McNamara (Brother Rice, 2028)
Listed at 6-foot-5, 205-pounds with long levers, had an impressive start on the mound on Saturday morning. McNamara in a complete game shutout effort, struck out 11 on a 65% strike rate and allowed just three hits. Working downhill with ease, the fastball played 73-77 mph while touching 78 mph once. Backing the fastball was a curveball sitting 60-63 mph and a changeup at 65-67 mph. McNamara will be a name to watch as he continues to develop into the game.

OF Caleb Mease (Wheaton-Warrenville South, 2028)
Athletic, strong 5-foot-11, 170-pound frame. Got the start in center field and slotted in the leadoff spot. Mease picked up three hits including two doubles and drove in two. In a slightly open stance with active hands pre-pitch, uses a medium leg stride to start the swing. Athletic, strong hands  allowed Mease to work to the gaps. Defensively, is an athletic defender that has a quick first step and takes proper routes to the baseball.

RHP Luke Ingram (Lincoln-Way East, 2028)
Ingram made a brief relief appearance in Sunday’s championship game where he flashed potential and caught the eye of our staff. Listed at 6-foot-2, 145 pounds, Ingram has a long-levered, projectable frame that suggests room for addition over the coming years. The right-handed arm ran his FB up to 80 mph and flashed developing feel for a CB. Ingram displayed a whippy, quick arm that was complemented with an effortless delivery. Despite running into some trouble, Ingram showed feel as he was able to consistently spot his fastball on the outer half.

RHP Jimmy Hellrung (Lincoln-Way East, 2028) 
Hellrung, standing at a 6-foot-0, 150-pound, extremely projectable frame, dazzled in his bracket play start Saturday night. The right-handed pitcher sat 74-78 mph with his fastball and 63-64 mph with his curveball. Hellrung worked quickly on the mound and made hitters uncomfortable, locating both pitches for strikes throughout his entire outing. His curveball pairs well with the fastball, freezing hitters and generating whiffs. He got into some trouble early with the bases loaded but worked out of it limiting the damage. Hellrung was able to complete the game and led the Sparks to a first-round win. 

Cangelosi Sparks Greenfield

OF Carson Ramoley (Brother Rice, 2028)
Listed at 5-foot-6, 140-pounds, athletic right-handed hitting outfield was in the leadoff spot and played center field for Spark in their game against DTA. Ramoley had two hits in the game both being doubles to left field. The first double hit three quarters way up off the monster way for an RBI and the second went down the third base line scoring two. In a slightly open and balanced stance, Ramoley is able to hit the ball to all fields. 

RHP/OF Brennen Malloy (Lockport, 2028)
Listed at 5-foot-11, 150-pounds, Malloy shined coming out of the bullpen. An uptempo tall-and-fall delivery coils into a high leg lift with shoulders closing off, lands slightly off line. The arm plays short, clean and with a high 3/4 slot. Using a three pitch mix, Malloy pitched four innings of relief with one run allowed, with five hits given up and struck out three. Malloy got strike one often with a four-seam type fastball coming in at 75-78 mph. Working off the fastball was an 11/5 curveball with depth at times, sitting 65-66 mph. 

OF/RHP Mason Marable (Palos South, 2028)
Marable, an athlete 5-foot-7, 135-pound frame, had an outstanding Friday in the box and on the mound. Marable collected three hits, two doubles, and three walks in two games for the Cangelosi Sparks. He has a smooth, powerful swing and a quick bat that can drive the ball to all parts of the field. Marable runs well out of the box and showed a strong arm on a pair of throws from center field. He took the mound for his second game of the day as the right-handed pitcher dominated in his start. Marable’s fastball was his dominant pitch sitting at 72-76 mph. While on the mound he stacked up a handful of strikeouts and bounced back after a rocky first inning. 

SS Mikey Menza (Hinsdale, 2028) 
Menza, an athletic 5-foot-2, 130-pound prospect, had a great day at the plate for the Cangelosi Sparks. He ended his day with four hits, three of them being doubles. Showing a smooth lefty swing that starts in a closed stance, Menza was able to constantly find barrels in a majority of his at-bats. He also showed  speed and heads-up baserunning, turning singles into hustle doubles. Menza didn’t stop at the plate, dazzling with his glove at shortstop. He made plays look easy, with fluid footwork and a quick, strong arm. He’s a rangy defender making backhanded plays followed by accurate strong throws. 

Cangelosi Sparks North - Castelloni

RHP/1B Jack Postma (Barrington, 2028)
Postma, presenting a lean and athletic 6-foot-3, 180-pound frame, provided multiple clutch hits with runners on base en route to the Sparks’ 12-4 win Friday night. Delivering with a two out RBI single to get the Sparks on the board and a loud two strike RBI triple to straight away centerfield, establishing a 5-4 lead at the time. Offensively, he displayed a center to right-center approach, significant plate coverage, and an advanced ability to adjust with two strikes. Mechanically, with less than two strikes, he has a short stride, quick load, slightly open stance, and toe tap for timing. With two strikes he eliminates the toe tap and stride, closes the stance, and relies more on back hip drive and hand speed. With room for additional physical development, Postma poses a big time run producing threat in the coming years. Postma also got the start in a high-leverage game against a Top Tier Iowa team that showed well this weekend. On the mound, there is a lot to love with Postma’s arm action and delivery. Outside of the clearly advanced frame, Postma’s arm gets around quickly and he works downhill with ease. The 2028 grad ran his fastball up to 82 mph while he sat 79-81 mph. He was able to land the majority of his FBs for strikes and he worked inside-out and lived on the corners. The physical right-hander also showed off a CB that sat 63-66 mph and a CH that ranged from 70-73 mph. Postma had a feel for both breaking pitches and was able to land his CB for strikes when necessary. With Postma still being years away from graduating high school, he has time to figure out how to use the frame he possesses and will only rise when he does so. 

SS Gavin Hartigan (Nazareth, 2028)
Hartigan, an athletic 5-foot-9, 150-pound frame, had a great game at the plate in the Sparks North’s first game on Saturday. He ended the game with two singles and two HBP. He stands in a closed-off stance and has a quick bat that drives the baseball. He looks natural at shortstop making every play look easy with fluid footwork. Hartigan also has excellent speed flying out of the box. He beat two ground balls in the infield for hits, one being a high chopper to the second baseman. Hartigan is a threat for the Sparks North not only in the box but once he is one of the base paths also. 

C Hunter Lockefeer (St Viator, 2028)
Lockefeer showed fluid actions all weekend. At the plate, the left-handed hitter has a simple setup with rhythm and a quality approach. Defensively, the catcher showed strong hands that work to present pitches for strikes. Lockefeer also showed a strong arm behind the plate which kept baserunners in check throughout the tournament. Overall, the rising freshman showed maturity and baseball IQ throughout the weekend. 

CBT 14u black

C Thomas Check  (La Crosse Logan, 2028) LHB
Check, a strong, athletic 5-foot-11, 180-pound prospect, impressed in his first game of the tournament. He showcased a quality approach at the plate including excellent plate discipline, drawing a pair of walks. Check also showed a strong lefty swing that is short and compact to the ball. Behind the plate, he worked well showing his athleticism by working from various stances, followed by soft hands when receiving and a strong arm. Although no one was thrown out the arm strength and accuracy were on show. Check is primed for an excellent season at the top of this lineup and behind the plate. 

Chicago Elite - Varek

C/3B Sonny Cantore (St. Laurence, 2028)
Cantore, standing at a lean and athletic 5-foot-10, 155-pound frame, made an imprint on Chicago Elite’s 7-3 win Friday morning, both defensively and offensively. Playing right field during the game, he displayed great first step quickness and advanced situational awareness making a full extension diving play, completing two 9-3 putouts, backed up wild throws to first base, and threw a runner out at home using an over the top arm slot. Offensively, he added two quality plate appearances going 1-for-2 with a walk and single to center field, showing an ability to keep his weight back on offspeed pitches. Mechanically, had a toe tap for timing, short load, and scissor kick back foot drag at the point of contact. 

OF/IF/C/RHP Sonny Contore (St. Laurence, 2028)
Contore, a 5-foot-10, 155-pound athletic frame, had an all-around weekend for his Chicago Elite squad. Contore had a handful of hits in two games including a line drive double in the left field gap. He has a balanced swing and can get his hips turned quickly, followed by impressive bat speed. During his at-bats, he had quality takes and a strike approach showing maturity in the box. Showing off his athleticism he played a range of positions including 3B and CF. He made a handful of plays at each spot, moving well with strong throws. Contore also had a relief appearance on the mound in his first game, flashing a fastball around 69-74 mph and a curveball around 57 mph. With an easy fluid motion, he was able to attack the zone generating swings and misses, along with soft contact. With a wide range of abilities, Contore looks to be a real asset for this Chicago elite squad.  

Duneland Flyers Kobe

RHP Brad Irzyk (NJSP, 2027)
6-foot-2, 155-pounds. Impressed in his first start on the mound this weekend. The right-handed pitcher sat 65-66 mph with his fastball and 52-53 mph with his curveball. He was able to command both pitches, constantly landing them for strikes. Irzyk's ability to fill up the zone led to generating outs and limiting damage across the board. Although they fell short in this one Irzyk looks to be a threat at the top of the rotation for the Flyers. 

Dupage Training Academy Wildcats 14U Elite

LHP JD Farkas (Hersey, 2028)
Farkas gave us an interesting look Saturday afternoon. Listed 5-foot-6, 155-pounds with a strong lower half. The left-handed pitcher punched out 10 batters over four innings, allowing two runs on three hits and walking two. A stretch-only pitcher comes set closed off before driving off the back leg towards home. Works from a short arm action with a low 3/4 slot. Farkas got up to 81 mph on the fastball in the first inning before settling down to 75-77 mph. The main secondary pitch was a breaking ball, profiled like a slider with 10/4 horizontal movement sitting 63-64 mph. A changeup was used at times playing in the low 70s.

Extreme Elite National

OF Jaxson Wix (Glenwood, 2028)
Wix, showing a lean and athletic 6-foot, 160-pound frame, produced several productive at-bats while going 2-for-4 in Extreme Elite’s Thursday afternoon play-in game. Out of the leadoff spot, he demonstrated speed and power to the opposite field with a leadoff triple to right center field, in addition to a walk and RBI single. Mechanically, displayed an open stance, long load and quick hands. 

LHP Cody Ganther (Morrisonville, 2028) 
Ganther stands at a 6-foot-1, 145-pound extremely projectable frame, and dominated in his start this Friday. The left-handed pitcher had a fastball sitting 72-75 mph and that was all he would need. He dominated the zone with his fastball, racking up a handful of strikeouts and generating swings and misses with it. He has a presence on the mound working fast and making sure anyone who got on base felt uncomfortable with a deceptive pickoff move that nabbed two runners. Ganther has a fluid motion with a fluid arm action and a fastball that has some life to it. 

Forceout

RHP Hunter Schneiker (Waterford, 2028)
Schneiker, an athletic 6-foot, 155-pound frame, showed out on the mound in his start against the Flyers. The right-handed pitcher showed feel on the mound with a fluid motion. His fastball sat 72-76 mph and he flashed a quality off-speed pitch that was able to generate whiffs. Schneiker was able to pound the zone with the fastball collecting a handful of strikeouts. Although he found himself in some trouble at moments, he battled through it and stopped any real damage from happening.  

OF Braden Lueck (Union Grove, 2028) 
Lueck, a 5-foot-10, 150-pound athletic frame, showed off all his tools in his first game of the tournament. The center fielder showed off his range making a sliding catch early in the game. With the bat, Lueck drew a pair of walks and had an RBI single. He has a longer swing, but with a quick bat, he gets to the ball quickly and can barrel the ball up. Lueck also showed off his wheels, stealing a pair of bags with ease. At the top of the order, Lueck is a threat at all times and can easily turn one bag into two. 

GRB Rays Illinois Haskins

OF/LHP Carver Cohn (McHenry, 2028) 
Cohn, coming in at an athletic and agile 5-foot-7, 150-pound frame, had an outstanding weekend going 6-for-8 at the plate with three doubles, a triple, three walks, and 3 RBIs. He mostly swung it from the left side this weekend but the few at-bats where he did swing right-handed he looked very comfortable; roping the ball down the foul line in an at-bat where he would eventually walk. He displayed strong bat-to-ball skills and was able to hit the ball to all sides of the field. On the defensive side, he demonstrated an ability to track down fly balls and was able to showcase his strong arm from the outfield multiple times this weekend. He also showed his potential on the mound this weekend, showcasing his loose and whippy arm action on the mound sitting 80-82 mph with his fastball and 68-69 mph with his slider. Cohn is certainly an intriguing prospect and will certainly be one to follow for the future.

Hitters U14 2028

OF Mace Miskel (Whitefish Bay, 2028)
Miskel, standing in at an athletic 5-foot-6, 110-pound frame, had a strong day at the plate Sunday, going 3-for-3 with a double and a triple for an RBI and two runs in a 9-0 Hitters victory. He demonstrated the ability to hit the ball to all sides of the field as all three of his hits were to separate parts of the field. He also showed his range in the outfield, as he was able to use his agility to make a few plays in center. Had an upward launch angle and beat multiple outfielders throughout the game for his triple and double. 

Hitters UDC 2028

SS Jermey Quinlan (St. Rita of Cascia, 2028) 
Quinlan, an athletic 5-foot-3, 115-pound prospect, impressed in his first game of this tournament. He started the day with a backhand play followed by a strong throw. This would be followed up with several plays made with ease. Quinlan then would add a double in his second at-bat with a smooth left-handed swing. 

Impact Sports Academy Royal

RHP/OF Charlie Aichele (Ashwaubenon, 2028)
Aichele, presenting a strong 5-foot-10, 180-pound frame, showcased significant power in Impact Sports Academy’s 11-11 tie play-in game Saturday morning. Going 2-for-2 with a walk, RBI single, and RBI triple to deep centerfield. Mechanically, utilized a slight open stance, wide base, short leg kick, minimal stride, and explosive hip twist. The bat-speed was above average, resulting in noticeably high exit velocities. 

Indiana Bulls North 14u

RHP/C Kayden Adams (Mount Carmel, 2028)
Adams tossed a stellar outing in the Bulls’ victory on Thursday afternoon. The right-handed arm showcased a three-pitch mix out of the stretch with an effortless delivery. Adams sat from 72-76 mph on his FB and complimented the pitch with a CH and a CB - both in the mid 70s. The FB was lively and was thrown with control as he lived on the outside corner throughout the contest. His CH is still developing but has quality shape with arm-side run. The Indiana native displayed a high level of intelligence on the mound as well and commanded the game as a whole. Listed at 5-foot-10, 170 pounds, Adams has clear strength in his lower half, yet has room to add over the coming years. At the plate, Adams would show impressive actions all weekend, even producing a two double day on Sunday. The right-handed hitter had loose hands at the plate with a simple approach and fluid rhythm. He showed a gritty nature and performed for his team in some key spots. Defensively, the catcher showed strong hands and smooth actions behind the plate, with an arm that kept the running game in check

OF/RHP Mason Biernacki (Penn, 2028)
Biernacki showed excellent two-way promise on Sunday, making his presence known by hitting a first-inning opposite-field home run. At the plate, the outfielder showcased a loose, athletic swing with a bat path that stays through the zone with plenty of bat speed and strength. On the mound, the right-handed pitcher makes the most of his 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame, coming from a 3/4 arm slot, he sinks into his legs to help generate power downhill. Biernacki showcased an impressive three-pitch mix which included an 81-82 mph fastball with easy velocity, a sharp low-70s slider, and an 11/5 curveball. Overall, Biernacki had one of the most impressive showings on the weekend and is a must-follow in Indiana’s 2028 class. 

LHP Jack Baumgardner (Thomas Jefferson Middle School, 2028)
Baumgardner showed athletic actions on the mound Saturday, featuring a deceptive delivery coming out of a 3/4 arm slot. The left-handed pitcher showcased a projectable frame, standing at 6-foot-2, 165 pounds with clear room for added strength gains. He showed pitchability as well, showcasing a fastball that sat in the mid-70s and topped at 78 mph, flashing a deceptive breaking ball that got swings and misses from lefties and righties alike. The frame and arm action show great promise, and the Indiana resident should be a name to follow. 

Longshots Baseball - Teal

1B/OF Luke Potter (Downers Grove South, 2028)
Potter, presenting a lean 5-foot-8, 145-pound frame, produced multiple hard contact at-bats in Longshots’ 11-11 tie play-in game Saturday morning. Going 1-for-3 with a triple to deep left-center field, batting from the left side, and generating apparent backspin at the point of contact. Mechanically, provided an open stance, big but controlled leg kick, in-line stride with balance, and a strong top hand. With virtually no load, a lot of the power was initiated by forearm strength and back leg drive throughout the swing. An overall positive showing with room for further development. 

Midwest Halos Scout 2028

3B Tenzin Pavlik (Shorewood High, 2027)
Pavlik, standing at a wiry 6-foot-2, 153-pound frame, impressed while turning in three poised plate appearances in the Scout’s 11-10 walkoff win Thursday afternoon. Going 1-for-2 with two walks and a pull-side two RBI single, the right-handed hitting infielder demonstrated patience and an advanced eye for the strike zone, consistently working deep in counts and laying off breaking balls. Mechanically, showed quick and direct hands, a short load, balanced stride and finish, front side clearance, and a level bat path. A swing and bat to look out for as he continues to grow into his tall frame. 

1B/RHP Caleb Scheel (Hales Corners Lutheran, 2028)
Scheel was another name from the Halos 2028 team that was at The Rock this weekend and looks to have all the makings of a name-to-know in Wisconsin’s 2028 class. Scheel hit in the heart of the Halos’ lineup and donned first base across the weekend. At the plate, Scheel has confidence as he has a clear feel for standing in the box and battling an opposing pitcher. The 2028 grad flashed power with a couple loud hits while also putting up numerous high-pitch at-bats. In the field, Scheel displayed soft hands with ability to adjust and move to errant throws. Without a doubt, Scheel is a name to follow in Wisconsin’s 2028 class and is one that could see major movement upward with more physical development.

Prospect Training Academy 14U Cardinal

RHP Cooper Hall (Cedarburg, 2028) 
Hall, coming in at a lean 5-foot-10, 142 pounds, impressed this weekend throwing four strong innings for PTA Cardinal to secure them a victory. Deploying a three pitch mix that each were thrown for strikes, Hall was able to keep hitters off-balance to secure weak contact. His fastball sat 75-77 mph with run and was consistently thrown around the zone. Both of his breaking pitches demonstrated advanced feel. His curveball had 11/5 break and was 57-59 mph while his slider had a sharp break that sat 61-64 mph. Both breaking pitches produced multiple swing-and-misses and mishits. He is certainly an arm to look out for this summer as he will continue to grow into his frame.

1B Cooper Schnitzler (Bay View Montessori, 2028) 
Schnitzler had a strong day at the plate Friday, helping PTA Cardinal win a tight 6-5 game. Going 2-for-2 at the plate with two walks and a double that brought in the go-ahead run for PTA, the right-handed first baseman displayed strong bat-to-ball skills. He roped a single and a double to produce two RBIs and two runs for PTA’s offense. Showed quick hands to the ball with a short, compact swing. 

3B Tytus Nichter (Westosha Central, 2028)
Nichter, an athletic 5-foot-9, 155-pound frame, impressed in two games this Saturday. He ended the day with two doubles and two walks, showcasing confidence and approach in the box. A quick and balanced swing that generates lift and power. Nichter was able to find barrels and drive the ball to the fence twice. In his final game, he sat on an outside pitch and was able to drive it to the opposite field for a standup double. Nichter’s confidence in the box followed by a balanced powerful swing, is setting him up for an excellent summer. 

Puma Academy 14U Black

UTIL Benjamin Smet-Cooper (Westosha Central, 2028)
Smet-Cooper has been a name-to-know in Wisconsin’s 2028 class for some time and showed why that is the case this weekend. Verified at 5-foot-11, 185 pounds, Smet-Cooper has a physical presence with clear strength throughout. Lighter than in the past, Smet-Cooper seems to improve physically with each look we get. At the plate, the 2028 grad swings a loud, quick bat that caught numerous barrels this weekend. Smet-Cooper’s swing can be described as intentful as the power bat also caught good contact throughout the weekend’s contests. In the field, the L/R athlete was moved around but showed versatility as he got looks from both corners of the infield, some work in the outfield, and made an appearance on the mound. After a couple looks at Ben across the winter and now this weekend, Smet-Cooper’s name continues to balloon in Wisconsin’s 2028 class.

OF Levi Chilcote (Lakes Community, 2028)
Chilcote showed an athletic, powerful look this weekend in the heart of Puma’s lineup. A DH or OF for the majority of the weekend, Chilcote’s bat stood out and caught eyes with a loud swing. Catching barrels consistently, the right-handed hitter displayed a smooth swing with feel for covering the plate and putting together strong at-bats. In all, Chilcote has the necessary tools to put together an ideal hitting profile over the coming years with more physical development. 

LHP Olin Leafblad (Westosha Central, 2028)
Leafblad put together a quality look in his start on Thursday as he tossed a shutout and allowed just three hits. The left-handed arm recorded six strikeouts and surrendered just one walk. Seeing just four batters over the minimum, Leafblad was able to manage the game to his liking and induced weak contact throughout the game. With his FB and CB being the go-to pitches, Leafblad kept a good mix of the two with his FB ranging in the mid-low 60s while his CB sat in the mid 50s. However, Leafblad has a clear feel for stepping on the mound as he utilized a pickoff move throughout the contest that kept runners at bay while picking-off a couple of runners. 

Rawlings Tigers Black - Artinghelli

RHP/3B Parker Frost (Huntley, 2027)
Frost, coming in at a wiry 5-foot-11, 145-pound frame, impressed on the mound this weekend as he presented a clean and easy delivery. He produced a lot of swing-and-misses with both his fastball at 80-82 mph and his slider that had sweeper movement at 68-70 mph. His whippy ¾ arm action produced run on his fastball making it hard to square up. He had a strong day on the bump, producing nine strikeouts through only four innings of work to keep Tigers Black in the game. He will definitely be an arm to look out for in next year’s high school season.

Selects Americans

RHP Wyatt Gelineau (Black Hawk, 2028)
Gelineau, presenting a wiry 6-foot, 165-pound frame, impressed as he settled in nicely after battling through the first inning in Selects’ Friday morning game. Deploying a three pitch mix, hitters were frequently kept off balance, resulting in a flurry of strikeouts and strike zone swing and miss stuff. Mechanically, flaunted a loose delivery, long arm swing, ¾ slot, front foot drag with back leg sink, and repeatable in-line finish from the windup and stretch. The fastball sat from 76-78 mph, topping at 80 with a higher perceived velocity and armside run; coupled with a slow, looping 2/7 o’clock curveball, thrown for strikes, sitting from 63-64 mph, and an occasional changeup sitting from 66-67 mph. With opportunity for total physical development and changeup tinkering, Gelineau presents a top of the rotation arm to monitor. 

Slammers Black 2028

3B/RHP TJ McMahon (Libertyville, 2028)
McMahon, exhibiting a sturdy 5-foot-11, 170-pound frame, dominated throwing four shutout innings in the Slammers’ 11-0 mercy rule win Saturday afternoon. Mechanically, showcased a high leg kick, fluid delivery, long in-line stride, upright finish, ¾ arm slot and deep back leg sink. Primarily utilizing a two pitch mix, he demonstrated a pitch to contact mentality, peppering the outer third of the plate with the fastball in all counts, sitting from 72-74 mph with ride, forcing soft contact and eliminating free passes. The curveball backed up the fastball with a 12/6 profile sitting from 62-63 mph. An overall impressive performance showing feel for how to attack different parts of a lineup. 

RHP Eli Sigal (Stevenson, 2028)
Sigal, an athletically built 5-foot-9, 165-pound frame, was outstanding on the mound in his start this Friday. His fastball sat 72-76 mph and was paired with an effective 64-65 mph curveball. Sigal was able to locate and fill the zone up with both pitches but relied heavily on the fastball. He collected seven strikeouts generating lots of swings and misses, along with freezing batters with the fastball. He worked fast on the mound making hitters uncomfortable in the box. Sigal has confidence on the mound paired with a fluid motion and quick arm action. Sigal will look to build off of this dominant start with many more to come this summer. 

The Yard 14U Black

SS Tyeson Mullikin (Dover-Etoya High School, 2029)
Mullikin showed athletic actions throughout the weekend, especially playing up an age group. The middle-infielder sports a 5-foot-5, 115-pound frame but showed mature actions in the field and at the plate. The right-handed stands tall at the plate with loose hands that rock back with the body's trigger. In the infield, he had clean actions and had an apparent baseball IQ. 

Top Tier Americans 14U

SS Kameron Cox (Montini Catholic, 2028)
Cox, exhibiting a proportionally athletic 5-foot-9, 160-pound frame, had several productive and clutch at-bats going 2-for-3 with a triple, walk, and two RBI pull-side single out of the leadoff spot in Top Tier Americans’ 15-7 victory Thursday. Offensively, he showcased game altering plate discipline and gap to gap power. Mechanically, displayed a quarter turn open stance, medium leg kick, forceful hip torque, connected back arm, and steady head at the point of contact. Defensively, he has soft hands, above average arm side range, and a positive feel for flip and footwork speeds on double plays. An overall impressive set of skills with room for further development.  

1B Ryan Miller (Lyons Township, 2028)
The left-handed hitter had a strong showing on Saturday, finding the barrel a couple of times. He presents a durable 5-foot-9, 170-pound frame, and it translated to strength at the plate. Miller has a slightly open stance with a fluid rhythm at the plate. The hitter didn't try and do too much at the plate and let his quiet actions and hands do the work. 

RHP Leo Kelly (Loyola, 2029)
Kelly, an athletic 5-foot-11, 150-pound frame, stood out in a dominant performance Saturday against Chicago Elite. He is a part of the 2029 class but was playing up with the 2028’s. His fastball sat 74-76 mph and showed an off-speed pitch, but mainly threw his fastball. He attacked hitters and got ahead in counts. This led to a high amount of two-strike counts and a handful of strikeouts. Kelly pitched with intent and fit right in with the older group. He moved well on the mound with a fluid motion and quick arm action. As Kelly continues to play up his development will only grow, as he stands to have an outstanding year on the mound. 

Top Tier Iowa 2028

C/OF Abram Decina (Centerville, 2028)
Decina, standing in at a lean 5-foot-10 180-pound frame, impressed on Sunday going 3-for-3 at the plate with a triple, a double, and five RBIs to help Top Tier Iowa secure a 14-1 victory. He was responsible for half of the runs on the Top Tier offense as he also scored twice from his hits. He showcased a strong ability to hit the ball to all sides of the field as he recorded a backside double in his second at-bat and was able to pull one down the line for a single later on in the game. Mechanically, he has a short stride and is quick to the baseball. He utilized strong hand speed and was able to get his barrel around the baseball easily. As he continues to mature, he will certainly be one to watch in the future. 

RHP/C Oliver Beckman (Waterloo West, 2028)
Beckman displayed a tall and lean frame at 5-foot-11, 165-pounds with more room to grow. He worked well down the mound with a loose arm and was able to secure weak contact. Had an easy delivery and maintained velocity into his third and final inning of work. His fastball was 76-79 mph and he demonstrated the ability to pinpoint it on the corner very well. His slider was 68-69 mph and had a sharp break on it. Both pitches were consistently thrown for strikes and he was able to secure the win for Top Tier Iowa in a 14-1 victory. Beckman appears to be very projectible and he will be one to watch for as he develops.

Top Tier North 2028

3B/SS Alex Govoni (2028, Loyola Academy)
Govoni presents a strong, athletic 5-foot-11, 165-pound frame, with more room to grow throughout. The right-handed hitter finished the game 1-for-3 with two RBIs against Longshots Baseball. Offensively, he showed a simple gap-to-gap approach with the barrel staying flat and on plane throughout the zone. He displayed his gap to gap approach in the second inning going opposite field for a double. Defensively he showed some athleticism on several plays, works around the ball and has soft hands. He displayed his range and footwork on several plays throughout the game. Govoni has an impressive set of tools and has more room for development and growth.

1B Nolan Hecht (2028, Depaul College Prep)
Hecht presents an intriguing 6-foot-1, 170 pound frame with room to fill out. Hecht helped offensively with the win over Longshots Baseball going 3-for-3 with three RBI’s. He has a simple left-handed approach, looking to drive balls into the gaps. He showcased that he can hit balls to all parts of the field. Mechanically, he has a balanced load with a short stride, the barrel stays flat through the zone, and has direct hands to the ball. There is a lot of upside for Hecht with growth and development in the future. 

OF Barrett Schifferdecker (2028, Loyola Academy)
Schifferdecker exhibits an impressive 6-foot-1, 180 pound frame. Shifferdecker went 1-for-2 with a double, two runs, and two RBI’s to help with the win over Longshots Baseball. He has a fluid rhythm and a simple approach offensively. Showcases a short leg kick and small load with hands to drive the ball into the gaps. Schifferdecker has an impressive frame and set of tools with further room to develop in the future.

RHP/SS Henry Burke (2028, Lake Forest HS)
Burke, right hander out of Lake Forest HS, threw a gem on Saturday going five innings allowing only one hit and two runs along with seven strikeouts. The Right handler worked a two pitch mix, including a fastball that sat 74-77 mph and mixed in his 12/6 curveball around 63-66 mph. Burke has an over the top arm slot which helped his curveball mix in with his fastball. He kept hitters off-balance throughout the game and was able to throw either pitch in any count for a strike. The fastball has arm side run and jammed many hitters on the hands throughout his start. Burke had a clean and effortless motion, and there is still room to add strength and muscle throughout the body. 

TPA Wasco Red

SS/RHP Kanon Baxley (Kaneland, 2028)
The right-hander had one of the more dominant performances in the entire tournament, firing a no-hitter Friday evening. Listed at 5-foot-9, 150-pounds, Baxley moves athletically down the mound with the ability to repeat his delivery, working quickly downhill while displaying flexible hips. His fastball cruised around 79-82 mph, still sitting 77-80 in his seventh inning of work. He also showed some feel for a slider at 68-70 and changeup at 71-73 mph.
