Washington Rankings Update - Class of 2027

As the travel ball and summer circuit nears an end, Prep Baseball Washington concludes our fall rankings updates. Today, we unveil our updated Class of 2027 Rankings.

From Summer ID events to our first ever PNW State Games, Prep Baseball staff saw hundreds of top high school prospects in the area throughout the summer months. This update marks the final list in our three week process of updating high school player rankings, and is updated in some part off of performances in travel ball and summer showcase events.

As always, the evaluation and rankings process is a fluid and ongoing ordeal, with multiple viewings needed to obtain the best feel for players abilities. It’s important to note that as players continue their development some show marked improvement at a much more rapid pace, and as a result will leapfrog other prospects in the list. This does not indicate that other players got worse or went backwards; this is simply the nature of player development. As the year unfolds, players make improvements and new prospects pop up on the radar expanding the Prep Baseball rankings universe.  In addition to the evaluations of players, our scouts, both those in Washington and nationally, have also had multiple discussions with each other to review our individual lists and attempt to make the most informed PBR ranking list possible.

Featuring a total of 50 prospects, the class of 2027 list features a shakeup within the top 10, an increasingly deep talent pool, and several newly added prospects with high upside. Below is our top 10 list and scouting notes on some of the top risers within the 2027 class.

Top Risers

#11 2027 RHP Marcus Kim (North Kitsap)
Polished arm impressed in bullpen at PBR's Seattle Summer ID. Works from full wind from left edge of the rubber, keeping head locked on target through wind into throw. Longer arm action into higher slot release with late intent and armspeed. Repeatable finish, maintains armspeed through offspeed deliveries as well. FB sat 83-84 MPH, also flashed a CH/SL to pair. Medium framed athlete with real tools on the mound.

#13 2027 RHP/INF Blake Moser (Lake Stevens)
Medium framed righty slots highly in the latest rankings updates after several loud performances on the mound this summer. FB sat in the upper 80's with armspeed out front. Pairs heater with two distinct breaking pitches, all offerings with plus spin rates. Downhill action with high release, momentum carries 1B side on follow through. Also features a sound RH swing, featuring an uphill swing path and tight levers throughout. Propsect to watch.

#18 2027 INF/RHP Rhyse Elder (West Valley)
Loud performance on both sides in multiple looks this summer. 6'0 frame with compact strength present. Quiet setup at the plate, generates extension through contact with simple, line drive approach. High upside on the mound, works from stretch into a smooth delivery. Compact arm action with lower slot release. Plus spin on all offerings across the board gives added life to FB, partnered with two plus breaking balls. Fundamentally sound with enough arm for anywhere on the infield as well. Well-rounded prospect.

#22 2027 RHP Rylan Howe (Union)
Long, lean frame with a velocity jump late into the summer. Works from 1B side of the rubber, generating easy extension with a 3/4 slot relase. Repeatable delivery from a high waisted frame. FB sat consistently in the mid 80's with a SL/SP combination to partner. 6'3, 185 pound frame capable of handling more strength, which could lead to further jumps in stuff moving forward.

#28 2027 OF Brooks Barker (Capital)
Plus athlete in a medium frame that stood out in multiple looks this summer as well. 6.91 60-yard dash runner with quickness that translates to the outfield. At the plate, features balanced lower half with barrel resting over rear shoulder. Longer load with knob retracting toward catcher and low stride into quick fire swing. Firm front side at contact with some bend in levers, generated consistent hard contact. Solid overall set of tools.

#40 2027 OF Cervantes Gatterson (Decatur)
One of the more impressive BP rounds of any '27 in a Summer ID showing, Gatterson boasted a 90.9 MPH average exit velocity from the LH side. Starts in a strong, balanced setup. Hands separate away from body in load and rotate quickly to contact. Quick bat path with some juice to the pull side. Fundamentally sound in the OF, catching fly balls in a strong position to throw. Carries momentum through throws well. Compact frame. Intruiging follow moving forward.
