What To Watch For - After a tough 9-inning loss in last year’s state quarterfinals to a surging Sumner team, the Richland Bombers are ready to move into the 2024 season. Coming in at #4 on our preseason power 25, the Bombers return two starters on the bump plus key infielders ‘24 3B Chris Daniels (New Mexico State)  and ‘24 John Corbin (Saint Martin’s). 

On the mound, starters ‘24 RHP Alec Ammerman (Grand Canyon) and ‘24 LHP Dallas Bennett bring 2 diverse skill sets, big game experience and poise to the top of a rotation. They are a tough 1-2 to match-up with. 

The biggest questions coming into the season for the Bombers were who would fill the roles of catcher and shortstop left by departing seniors. So far, ‘25 SS Carter Upmeyer is really performing nicely at shortstop with 2 big offensive games and ‘26 C Hayden Galloway has been splitting time behind the plate with Corbin early on. 

Offensively we’d expect the powerful bats of Daniels and Corbin to pace the offensive as they both possess the ability to hit for average and power. Another player to keep an eye on will be rising sophomore ‘26 Michael Revell who can handle OF, C, 1B and also touch 86 on the bump. He has one of the higher ceilings in the 2026 class. 

It’s early, but based on opening weekend success and the pieces in place, Richland looks poised for another playoff push in 4A.
