WASHINGTON POWER 25

Head Coach - Lenny Ayres
Classification - 3A
2023 Record - 21-3
Last Year’s End - Lost round 2 states
Key Players Lost - 1B Braxden Salazar, OF/LHP Simeon Howard
Top Returners - ‘25 SS Dane Chavez, ‘24 C Dylin McIntyre, ‘26 OF/LHP Dylan Mamiya, ‘26 LHP Cameron Owen, ‘24 INF Conner Salsbury
Key additions - ‘26 OF Brady Mattson, ‘26 INF Dominic Driver
What To Watch For - The #1 team in the WIAA 3A classification heading into the state playoffs a season ago, the Kennewick Lions return a lot of talent to the diamond this season. A star-studded left side of the infield with Dane Chavez and Conner Salsbury, who also both hit at the top of the team’s batting order will look to carry their previous into 2024.
In the OF, ‘26 Dylan Mamiya can handle all 3 positions with above average defensive ability while also being a diverse offensive threat with his speed and power. He also figures to see a bump in innings this year on the mound. In addition, ‘26 LHP Cameron Owen should be a dependable arm at the top of the rotation and eat up a lot of innings.
‘24 C Dane McClure has a ton of big game experience behind the dish and brings a senior presence to the middle of the diamond.
Currently sitting at 5-1 as of right now, Kennewick's lone loss is to a strong Richland squad. Despite missing key contributors Ambrose Driver and Leyton Lind due to injury, the Lions look to have another dominant regular season and should be strongly in the mix for a spot at State Semi’s in Pasco this year.
