Spokane Summer ID - Quick Hits

Dylan Grenz
Associate Scout

Last week, Prep Baseball staff hosted the Spokane Summer ID at Whitworth University in Spokane, WA. Featuring prospects in the 2025-2028 classes, players from Washington, Idaho and Montana participated in this showcase-style workout. The event included unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art technology partners and in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball staff.

Summer ID events serve as an important tool for both PBR scouts and college recruiters, who will subsequently create lists of prospects to follow as they plan their remaining summer coverage. We often tend to see prospects' best showings in summer ID events, as players are fresh off playing for their respective high schools and are in the routine that consistently playing in-game offers. Standout performances can lend invites to some of the summer's top events, including the PBR Pacific Northwest State Games.

Today we share our Quick Hits, which include scouting notes and video clips of some standout performers at our Spokane Summer ID event. Prospects are listed alphabetically by last name.

Quick Hits

Seattle Summer ID (6.25.24)

'27 INF/RHP Rhyse Elder (West Valley)
Advanced tools shown on both sides of the ball. The young righty flashed consistent hard contact at the plate with compact strength and a fundamentally sound swing. Balanced stance and load transitions into a firm front side and extension out front through contact. On the mound, showcased a controlled delivery with a low leg drive. FB was up to 86.1 with plus spin rates, CB a sharp breaker with a peak spin rate of 2640.

'25 OF/RHP Johnny Hall (Mt. Rainier)
Tall, lean righty flashed several athletic tools, posting a 6.93 60-yard dash time and 84 MPH outfield velo. At the plate, showcased a simple approach with gap power to all fields. Potential for a big leap with added strength and increased ability to drive the ball in the air. Flashed a 4-pitch mix on the mound with a FB topping at 83 MPH. Well-rounded uncommitted prospect.

'25 INF Remington Higley (Buhl)
Strong, powerful frame led to standout BP rounds with hard contact to all fields. Wide stance with weight slightly over rear leg. Quiet hands pre-pitch and a firm front side at load. Long swing path with bend in levers. Long, one handed finish. Bat leads the way. Also took reps in the infield, catching, and pitching, showcasing his versatility.

'26 OF/LHP Charlie Lynn (Ridgeline)
Medium framed lefty was fundamentally sound across the board. Started in slightly open LH stance at the plate with weight stacked over rear leg. Short load into direct swing path. Higher, two-handed finish. FB/CH/SL combination on the bump with a controlled delivery and a 3/4 slot release. More juice in the tank both offensively and pitching with added strength.

'25 INF Nash McLean (Freeman)
Exciting combination of speed and power shown, highlighted by strong BP rounds and a 6.77 60-yard dash time. Starts swing in a narrow, open LH stance into a toe-tap load. Short, direct hand path through the zone with line drive approach, particularly to the pull side. Can make the routine play defensively as well, tools likely project as a middle infielder. Strong all-around showing.

'26 C/RHP Connor Moffitt (Mt Spokane)
Perhaps the most impressive offensive showing of the day, Moffitt had multiple triple-digit exit velocities and standout rounds of BP. Starts in a balanced setup with hands stacked over rear shoulder. Short stride load into explosive swing path. Some classic LH swing loft present but maintained ability to hit the ball hard consistently on a line. Also flashed pop times in the 2.10 range behind the dish and ran it up to 84.5 MPH on the mound.

'26 RHP/OF Kyle Rayment (Mt Spokane)
One of the most impressive mixes of tools of the day, Rayment's athleticism stood out with a 6.87 60-yard dash time and a 89 MPH OF velocity throw. At the plate, starts with low, loose hands in a relaxed stance. Consistent hard contact generated with flat swing path and quick hands. Utilizes 6'3 frame to work downhill on the mound. Compact arm slot from the RH side. FB up to 85.8, also showed a CH/CB/SL mix. Noticable confidence while playing. A prospect to watch moving forward.

'28 RHP/3B Tyson Richardson (Richland)
Young prospect intruiged with his arm in particular, already flashing 80 MPH throws across the infield and showing a strong 3-pitch mix for his age. FB topped 78.3 with sink and showcased ability to mitigate spin well on CH. LH swing showcased promise as well. Underclassman to watch, can take a big leap on both sides of the ball with continued added strength.

'26 SS/RHP Chris Wilson (Cheney)
Compact strength present in medium framed right hander. Wide stance at the dish with hands loaded over rear shoulder. Leg lift load into shorter swing path with abbreviated finish. 94.9 peak exit velocity at the plate. Athletic mover with some twitch around the diamond, up to 80 MPH throws in the infield. Also ran a 7.03 60-yard dash. 3-pitch mix on the mound with ability to fill up the zone.

Coming off of a strong spring, Yale had a solid all-around showing in Spokane. RH swing plays with strong frame, flashing gap power. Extremely quick hands and had a peak batspeed of 83.8 MPH, the highest of the day. On the mound, created great extension working down the mound. High over-top slot release with a controlled, repeatable gloveside finish. FB was up to 84.4 with a CB/SL mix.
