Seattle Summer ID Session II - Quick Hits

Dylan Grenz
Associate Scout

Last week, Prep Baseball staff hosted the Seattle Summer ID - Session II at Island Crest Park in Mercer Island, WA. Featuring prospects in the 2025-2027 classes, players from across the state participated in this showcase-style workout. The event included unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art technology partners and in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball staff.

Summer ID events serve as an important tool for both PBR scouts and college recruiters, who will subsequently create lists of prospects to follow as they plan their remaining summer coverage. We often tend to see prospects' best showings in summer ID events, as players are fresh off playing for their respective high schools and are in the routine that consistently playing in-game offers. Standout performances can lend invites to some of the summer's top events, including the PBR Pacific Northwest State Games.

Earlier, we released our Statistical Analysis, where we unveiled leaderboards in the traditional statistical categories from our recent ID event. Today, we release our Quick Hits, where we share scouting notes on standout performers from last week's ID. Prospects are listed alphabetically by last name.

QUICK HITS

Seattle Summer ID - Session II (7.2.24)

'26 OF Tommy Belle (Bishop Blanchet)
Left hander had a solid all-around showing, particularly at the plate. Lean strength present with aggressive rounds of BP. Hands start high over rear shoulder in slightly open stance. Long load with a high back elbow and closed front side. Rotates quickly through the zone with classic LH loft in swing path. Consistent hard contact, advanced approach. Noticable poise and confidence throughout. Athleticism projects in a corner, plus arm with an 86 MPH peak throw from the OF.

'25 3B Carson Cody (Emerald Ridge)
Physical uncommitted prospect coming off of a standout HS season. Short stride load at the dish with minimal wasted hand movement. Compact swing path, strong levers throughout swing. Easy juice to all fields. Adequate defender that should stick in a corner infield spot with soft hands and quick transfer.

'25 OF/1B Jayden Costa (Meadowdale)
Impressive performance at the dish, using tall, lean frame to post some of the highest exit velo's on the day. Simple operation starting in an open stance with weight stacked over rear leg. Upright posture through swing, rotates quickly with fast hands and whippy barrel path. Defensive versatility in both the infield and outfield with plus speed once he gets going. Continued polish of tools, particularly arm strength and initial quickness, can lead to a big time jump.

'26 SS/2B Charlie Crawford (Tumwater)
Another prospect coming off of a strong spring. Medium framed righty with natural, athletic movements. Should stick up the middle as a solid athlete. Simple, balanced setup in the box. Short stride with quiet, direct hand path. Flatter approach with controlled two-handed finish. Very repeatable actions.

'27 OF/SS Patrick Crowley (Newport)
Standout athletically for underclassman status. 6.80 60-yard dash time was the best of the event. Flatter approach at the plate from the RH side. Should see jumps at the plate with added strength and reps. Strong arm from the outfield, carrying momentum through throws well. Underclassman to watch.

'25 INF Declan Englund (Bellevue Christian)
Strong, medium framed righty. Rhythmic, balanced stance with toe-tap load at the dish. Stays tight and compact through swing with bend in levers and firm front side. Controlled two-handed finish. Generated hard contact at one of the most consistent rates throughout the day. Defensively, moves quick laterally and has active feet through fielding process. An athletic mover with some twitch.

'27 RHP Marcus Kim (North Kitsap)
A high octane underclass arm, the righty impressed with a true 3-pitch mix. Starts in full wind working from 1B side of the rubber. Hands raise in sync with leg lift and break at the letters. Late intent with a high 3/4 slot release. Slight leg swing in follow through. Quick-paced, repeatable delivery and stays in lower half well throughout. Already topping out at 85.1 MPH, should certainly be a top-tier arm in the area as frame continues to fill out.

'26 SS/RHP Khing Ljutic (Seattle Prep)
Intruiging 2-way talent with makings of tools in 6'2 frame. Very quiet pre-pitch at the plate with minimal wasted movement. Creates separation with hands retracting from body in load. Quick, short hand path to ball and an abbreviated finish. Athletic mover defensively with long levers. Showcased 4-pitch mix on the mound with plus ability to spin the fastball. Slider looks to be most consistent offspeed offering. Added strength should benefit game as a whole.

'25 1B/RHP Ethan Mar (Gig Harbor)
Strong, physical prospect left a loud impression. Upright, narrow stance into higher leg lift load. Powerful levers stay tight throughout with strong front side. Generates loft consistently and showcased easy pull-side power. Plus bat speed. Also showed a FB/SL/CH mix on the mound. Works downhill with deliberate, controlled delivery and loose gloveside follow. Great ability to kill spin on firm changeup with depth. Standout performance all-around.

'25 SS/RHP Andre Muneton (Auburn Riverside)
Medium framed righty with tools on both sides of the ball. Balanced, rhythmic setup at the box. Short stride load with compact barrel path. Flatter approach, rotates well through contact with a long, high one-hand finish. Smooth defender with soft hands and easy arm strength across the diamond. Simple operation on the mound, working from stretch position. Hands set at the belt and raise with controlled leg lift. 4-pitch mix. More in the tank with increased use of lower half to work down the mound. Well rounded prospect.

'26 OF/RHP Jai Penalver (Lakeside)
Arm leads the way for the athletic-framed right hander. Slightly open stance at the plate with high back elbow. Weight shifts forward with firm front side at contact. Defensively, can make the routine play but has easy juice, topping at 85 MPH from the outfield. On the mound, showcased a very polished operation. Works from stretch with hands set above the letters. Weight loads slightly over drive leg in controlled leg lift with repeatable follow through. FB/SL combination, filled up the zone with both offerings.

'25 OF/RHP Preston Przybylski (Mount Si)
Athletic, strong 6'2 frame with a standout performance offensively. Upright, narrow stance shifts with a low, long stride widening the base. Hands retract away from body, then explode to contact. Rotates quickly with whippier two-hand finish. 25.7 MPH handspeed and 81.8 MPH batspeed were among the leaders of the event.

'25 1B/3B Jacob Swanson (Issaquah)
Bat-first prospect with big time raw power. Weight stacked slightly over rear leg in stance with quiet hands. Rotates through the zone quickly with plus batspeed. Generates power to the pull side consistently with powerful, violent levers. 103.7 peak exit velo. Frame fit for a corner infield slot, can make the routine play with enough arm strength to make throws across the diamond.

'25 OF Matthew Talbot (Mount Si)
Ideal frame and strong athlete with a solid overall showing. Ran a 6.98 60-yard dash, followed by impressive BP rounds. Wide, balanced base in stance with hands stacked over rear shoulder. No stride into explosive swing path. Generates plus extension and meets ball out front. 100.1 peak exit velo. Projectable in an outfield spot, works through throws well.

'25 OF/RHP Landon Taylor (North Creek)
Tall 6'5 frame with an imposing look on both sides of the ball. One of the most consistent BP showings on the day, consistently hitting the ball hard from the right side. Drives balls, particularly to the pull side. Makes the routine play in the OF with a plus arm. Peak OF velocity at 87 MPH. On the mound, hands set at belt in full wind. Simple wind delivery, uses frame to create plus extension from a high 3/4 slot look. FB/CH/CB combination.
