Dylan Grenz
Associate Scout

Last week, Prep Baseball hosted the first ever Pacific Northwest State Games. This three day event held at Heritage High School in Vancouver, WA showcased some of the top talent the area has to offer. High school players invited from the 2025-2028 graduating classes competed in both workout-style and in-game settings. PBR's mission is for prospects to face high-level competition and gain as much exposure as possible, in order to truly determine the best of the best prospects in the PNW and help pave the way for playing baseball at the next level.

Today, we release our 2025's Quick Hits, featuring scouting notes on standout rising seniors. Prospects are listed alphabetically by last name. With over 180 prospects attending our first ever State Games, the level of overall talent on display was at an all-time high for a PNW event. As a result, many talented prospects will be omitted from this article, but we encourage viewing full event statistics, results, and rosters by clicking here.

Pacific Northwest State Games

Quick Hits - 2025 Graduates

'25 1B/OF Gabriel Coltman (Lincoln)
The tooled up righty had a loud showing particularly in the first day workout. Utilized large 6'5 frame with present strength to drive the ball with authority to all fields. Deliberate load into an explosive trigger leads to ball jumping off the bat. Topped all BP rounds at the event with a 388 foot shot as his furthest hit ball. Well-rounded athlete also ran a 6.89 60-yard dash and threw 92 from the outfield, good for second best at the event.

'25 OF/RHP Bryce Dayley (Graham Kapowsin/Edmonds)
Athletic two-way talent stood out at the plate in particular. Solid BP rounds featured a quiet pre-pitch with a simple operation that consistently generated loft and hard contact. 93.7 avg exit velocity was good for third at the event. Peak EV of 99 mph. Recent Edmonds College commit also ran a 7.06 60 and was 86 from the outfield, both significant jumps from his most recent look last winter.

'25 RHP/OF Grady Edler (East Valley)
Another standout performer of the ProCase team, Edler's all-around game was on display throughout the three days. Loose, rhythmic pre-pitch with quick hand fire at the plate led to both strong BP rounds and in-game success. Impressive 6.57 60-time for 6'5 frame. Also featured a smooth operation on the mound with a two pitch mix, running the FB up to 88.5 MPH. Impressive athlete that recently opened his committment back up.

'25 1B/OF Andrew Fetty (Kamiak)
Arguably the loudest BP round of the day, the LH bat topped the event with a 104.2 MPH peak and 96.4 MPH average exit velo. Utilized strong, stocky frame to generate plus bat and hand speed without ever looking off-balance or sped up. Solid defensive showing in both the INF and OF, game likely projects in a corner long-term.

'25 RHP Chase Garland (West Salem/Oregon)
One of the most talented arms on display at the State Games, Garland largely overpowered hitters throughout. Using his long-limbed 6'5 frame and strong lower half to top out at 93.2 MPH, the best of the event, while also never throwing his fastball below 89.2 MPH. Also showed ability to spin slider 2500+ RPM at 80-83 MPH. High ceiling prospect should only continue to improve.

'25 LHP Calvin Gregory (Lakeridge/Oregon State)
Gregory showed zero rust in his recent return from injury, filling up the zone in his short stint. True starter stuff with 4-pitch mix. FB sat 88-90 from a unique slot. Tight, over-top arm action with some funk creates an uncomfortable AB. The Oregon State commit should continue to improve as he regains strength in his return to in-game action.

'25 1B/RHP Ethan Mar (Gig Harbor)
Physical prospect had a solid showing on both sides of the ball. On the mound, ran the FB up to 88.2 MPH with a loose, repeatable arm action. Also showed plus ability to kill spin on CH, averaging just over 1000 RPM on the pitch while throwing it for strikes. Also had a 98.8 peak exit velo in BP from the RH side. Continues to trend upward this summer.

'25 1B/LHP Jacob Muench (Capital)
The bat is what stood out for Muench, as both BP and in-game the lefty showed a big leap forward. Starts with weight stacked on rear leg in slightly open setup. Keeps tight levers with shorter hand path to contact. 99.7 peak exit velo in BP translated to games, as he consistently hit the ball hard to all fields. Also showcased his stuff on the mound, featuring a FB with some natural LH sink.

'25 INF Logan Nakamura (Ridgeview/Portland)
The Oregon native showcased a smooth all-around game. Some twitch present in medium frame. 6.83 runner is a plus defender with soft hands who can stick in the MIF. Left-handed bat at the plate generated consistent hard contact, with a 383 foot shot and a 98.0 MPH max exit velo the highlights of his BP round.

'25 C Isaac Pfeifer (Tualatin/Arizona State)
Raw strength present in athletic frame. Moves well behind the dish and ran a 7.03 60-yard dash, an impressive showing for a catcher. Short strider at the plate that widens base to protect with two strikes. Short hand path to contact and keeps head down with flatter barrel path. One of the top '25's in Oregon, certainly a prospect to keep an eye on moving forward.

'25 OF Matthew Talbot (Mount Si)
A standout at a previous PBR summer event, Talbot had another strong showing in Vancouver. Showcased easy RH swing at the plate with short stride. Strong through point of contact with two-hand finish generating a solid average exit velo of 87.7 MPH. 6.87 runner with a passable arm, quick first step and sound reads on balls in the outfield.

'25 OF Derek Thompson (Tumwater/Lower Columbia)
Perhaps the best offensive in-game showing of the three-day event, Thompson slugged two homers and sprayed the ball across the yard like few else. Maintains tight, compact levers and a firm front side to generate loft at contact. Natural athlete can stick in a corner OF spot with some present arm strength. Continues to rise after a strong spring showing.

'25 INF Gage Thompson (Puyallup/Oregon State)
Right hander showed among the best in BP rounds, topping the event with a 97.0 MPH average exit velo. Balanced setup, generates loft to the pull side with ease. Some physicality present with room to grow in 6'1 frame. Easy to see sticking on left side of the diamond with natural defensive actions and easy arm strength. Plays with noticable confidence.

'25 RHP/INF Alexander Via (Summit/Portland)
Talented two-way prospect stood out on the mound in particular. FB sat 88-90 with plus plus spin, averaging nearly 2500 RPM. Also flashed CH/SL combo, both having a real chance to develop. Long, fluid arm path with lean frame. Also found the barrel consistently in BP rounds and was up to 89 MPH on throws from the outfield.

'25 C/RHP Mark Wiepert (Wilsonville/Oregon State)
One of the top Oregon '25's, Wiepert stands out physically with 6'1 frame. Translated strength to the plate, peaking at a 99.6 MPH exit velo. Creates separation with toe-tap load and explosive bat speed to hit to all fields. Also a standout behind the plate with quickness, Wiepert did not show any pop times over than two seconds, with a best pop of 1.87 seconds.

'25 INF/RHP Orlando Young (Federal Way/Washington)
Typically an arm first, Young showcased his versatility with some of the highest exit velo's at the event. Consistently drove the ball on a line/in the air, peaking at a 102.2 MPH exit velo. Simple, balanced setup lets athleticism take over with quick barrel and whippy two-hand finish. Hard-nosed competitor should be a welcome edition for the Huskies down the road.
