Event Preview - Central Washington Preseason ID

This Saturday, February 3rd, Prep Baseball Washington is hosting the Central Washington Preseason ID at The SIX Athletic Training Facility in Moses Lake, WA. This is an open event for all high school classes (2024-2027) and gives out staff a great early look at some of the area’s top players and emerging stars.

EVENT HISTORY
'24 SS Corbyn Aills (Davis)
Last year the Spokane Falls commit kicked off the event by running a blazin' 6.71 in the 60. He then put his quickness and burst on display at SS with a crisp round of defense. Offensively he uses a quick, tight swing that lets the ball travel and sprays line drive contact to all fields. Has an approach that fits the top of the order and allows him to be a table setter for the offense. Video Embed
One of the better combinations of size, speed & strength we saw at the workout, Froula ran a 6.72 at 6'1, 200 lbs. Strong profile for the OF with his ability to move coupled with his strong, accurate arm. At the plate, he gets easy lift and is capable of driving the ball to all fields. Hits from a strong, wide base and keeps his hands inside of the ball. Lower Columbia commit
Busey put together a strong 2-way performance in 2023 as both a C & RHP. Equipped with a powerful arm, he was up to 77 mph on his throw downs while also touching 83 mph on the bump. Offensively he rotates through the zone with a flat, level swing path and upright posture through contact. Strong, quick wrists control the barrel. Uncommitted.
The young, physical righty comes in at 6'4, 210 lbs with a mature frame and present strength. Led the event in FB velocity with a best of 87 mph. Keeps the arm short and compact after hand break with a quick arm circle out to release. Pitches from a 3/4 slot and creates angle with his long levers and a strong lead leg block at release. Shapes an 11/5 breaker as best secondary. Uncommitted.

'24 RHP Caleb Sherfey (Tri-Cities Prep)
One of the top uncommitted arms remaining in the '24 class. Sherfey has been a polished strike thrower on our looks, combining a live FB at 83-86 with 2 sharp breaking balls and feel for a CH. He has a long, loose arm path and repeatable mechanics. There's present stuff as well as projection to grow into with his 6'3, 194 lb frameVideo Embed
At 6'4, 220, Swanson is one of the more physical arms in the 2025 class. This will be our first look at the rising junior and given reports from throughout the summer, we're bullish on the performance we'll see this weekend.
One of the top overall players in the '26 class. Mamiya is a table setter from the left side thanks to his speed, instincts and ability to consistently hit the ball hard. A natural OF with tracking ability & closing speed, he profiles well there with his L/L skill set. Offensively he rotates quickly with strong hands and a fluid, easy swing through the zone. Gap to gap type power with ability to shorten up and spray as well. On the mound he has aptitude for multiple pitches and shows a willingness to attack with his arsenal.
An athletic MINF prospect, Andreas can make things happen with his speed on both sides of the ball. At SS, there's quickness in his first step with body control as he moves laterally. Clean exchange into his throwing motion & gets the ball out quickly. Offensively it's a simple operation with loose, quick hands and balance throughout.
2-way prospect with a lot of physical tools to work with. Wartinger is a functional athlete at 6'0, 170 with clean actions on both sides of the ball. Defensively has the chance to be a strong armed 3B with emerging power at the plate. While on the mound there's a high ceiling to tap into with his short, quick arm strong and ability to shape a tight breaking ball. Should be a player who makes a big jump this year.

The Preseason ID series is unique in several ways. It serves as an identifier heading into the spring season, giving our scouts as well as college recruiters, a list of prospects to follow as they plan their spring coverage. We also tend to see prospects’ best performances in the Preseason, as most athletes are fresh and coming off of strict and targeted off-season training programs that have resulted in big gains, primed for updating their Prep Baseball profile. All of which lends the perfect opportunity to secure invitations to some of the summer's biggest invite-only events such as the ProCase, Prep Baseball Future Games and more.
Our staff strategically hosts Preseason ID events throughout the state in search of players who have taken advantage of the offseason, identifying new prospects to add to our follow lists or players our staff is already familiar with who are on the rise.
All player information including tech metrics, stats, videos, scouting reports and more will be hosted to the Prep Baseball website, bolstering the player profile, which is subscribed to by more than 1,000 colleges across the country.
