Eastside Summer ID - Quick Hits

Dylan Grenz
Associate Scout

On Tuesday July 9th, Prep Baseball staff hosted the Eastside Summer ID at Eastlake High School in Sammamish, WA. Featuring prospects in the 2024-2028 classes, players from across the state participated in this showcase-style workout. The event included unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art technology partners and in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball staff.

Summer ID events serve as an important tool for both PBR scouts and college recruiters, who will subsequently create lists of prospects to follow as they plan their remaining summer coverage. We often tend to see prospects' best showings in summer ID events, as players are fresh off playing for their respective high schools and are in the routine that consistently playing in-game offers. Standout performances can lend invites to some of the summer's top events, including the PBR Pacific Northwest State Games.

Today, we release our Quick Hits, where we offer scouting notes on standout prospects from this ID event. Players are listed in order alphabetically by last name.

QUICK HITS

Eastside Summer ID (7.9.24)

'26 SS/2B Cody Buehring (West Seattle)
Medium framed, strong athlete had a solid all-around showing. At the plate, starts with high hands in a slightly open stance. Flatter approach, quiet head through contact. Consistently keeps active feet and gets into proper fielding position. High 3/4 slot release with tight, compact gloveside follow. Also ran a 7.08 60-yard dash time.

'27 OF/RHP Griffin Butler (Wenatchee)
Lean strength present in 6'2 frame. Creates separation with hands in swing and is able to hit to all fields. Strong arm from the OF, topping at 85 MPH. Also moved well laterally when tracking down fly balls. FB/CB combination on the mound with smooth, repeatable delivery.

'25 C/1B James Butler (Wenatchee)
Very physical player with plenty of raw strength. Strong, balanced setup at the dish with hands stacked horizontally over rear shoulder. Stays connected with lower half with powerful levers through swing. Creates loft consistently and rides backside through finish. 95.8 MPH peak exit velo. Throws consistently on the bag from the catcher position with pop times in the 2.08-2.15 second range.

'26 RHP Keegan Glennon (Sehome)
Filled up the zone with a 4-pitch mix. Works from wind on 1B side of the rubber. Quick paced operation. Hands break at the letters in sync with leg lift. Compact 3/4 slot delivery. Controlled, balanced finish. Quiet head throughout. Maintains armspeed well when throwing offspeed.

'26 C Kai Jambor (Eastside Catholic)
The versatile backstop showcased growth since our last look in the winter with big exit velo jumps at the plate. Smooth swinging lefthanded stick. Compact, quiet stance in strong frame. Extends and meets ball out front with late loft in swing. Long, smooth finish. Enough strength in frame to handle catcher spot defensively, with some quickness in transfer to throws shown.

'25 OF Dex Pudduck (West Seattle)
Another well-rounded showing, Pudduck ran a 6.94 60-yard dash while having solid BP rounds filled with hard contact. Starts in narrow, upright stance with barrel resting on rear shoulder. Creates separation with large hand load and low, deliberate leg lift. Uphill swing path with 2-hand finish. Quickness shown in the outfield with adequate arm strength.

'25 RHP/3B Colby Rice (Tahoma)
Standout arm with easy life, topped out at 87.5 MPH. Works from center of the rubber in stretch position with hands set at belt. Hands stay low and break at belt with plus scap retraction. 3/4 slot release with loose gloveside follow. Flashed CH/SL/CB all sitting in the mid 70's. Also topped out with a 95.3 exit velo at the plate with an 82.3 MPH peak batspeed.

'28 SS Kai Roberto (Woodinville)
Impressive look for underclassman status. Smooth defender that should stick up the middle in high school ball. Soft hands and natural movements from SS position. Balanced swing with a line drive approach. Real potential for offensive growth while continuing to fill out frame and staying compact through the baseball. Also showcased 3-pitch mix on the mound while working from full wind in a smooth delivery.

'25 Caden Shoul (Auburn Mountainview)
Physical prospect had a sound showing, particularly on the mound. FB topped 86.3, mostly sat 85, with a firm SL/CH to pair. Works from 1B side of the rubber, hands set at the belt and raise in sync with leg lift. Late intent down mound with a 3/4 slot, cross-body release. Also has a quick bat from RH side of the plate and uses larger frame to generate hard contact. 97.7 peak exit velo.
