Prep Baseball: What were your expectations about the recruiting process---question--- What were you looking for out of a college program to continue your baseball career at---question---  

Hecker: I wanted to go to a school that I think I can help win ball games for and once I got offered to my hometown college it was a no brainer. Go cougs for life.

PB: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you---question--- Where did the school you committed to first see you play---question---

H: After my freshman year high school season is when I started to talk to some schools. I went to a WSU prospect camp and  I did well in front of the new staff and that is when I committed.

PB: What are you most looking forward to when it comes to playing college baseball---question---

H: I'm looking forward to getting to play against new teams and players I have never played against before. Also, working hard enough to get that opportunity to contribute however I can as fast as possible.

PB: In your opinion who is the best player you have faced in the state---question--- What about them makes for a tough opponent---question---

H: I would have to say some of my current summer ball teammates are the toughest. Guys like Sonny Salazar who we play in high school a lot, but all the guys on my team. Before I started to play with them I would face off against them a bunch. They are tough to play because they will all do anything to beat you.

PB: At what point in your career did you realize you were a college-caliber player and became serious about taking your game to the next level---question---

H: I became serious about playing in college when some of my friends started to commit to schools. I always believed in myself and my talent, but when some of my friends and teammates started to commit to schools I realized I could totally do it. So I would take certain things they do and add it to my game. Overall, I would just try to be better than them and work hard.

PB: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are---question---

H: Find your guys that have similar goals as you and push each other to work hard and get better.

PB: What is the most memorable moment in your baseball career to this point---question---

H: My most memorable baseball moment was winning the PSS last summer, on my now-future field. It was a great weekend overall and super fun.

PB: Any game day superstitions or routines---question---

H: I try not to let superstitions get in my head too much, but I always eat a banana in the morning of a gameday.

PB: Give us a quick preview of what to expect from your HS team next season. How do you feel your team will be in 2025---question---

H: We will be good. We lost a lot of veteran talent last year, but I believe in our young guys to step up. I think we are gonna be looked down on a little bit, but that is what always happens down here in Pullman. You will see us at state again just like this year.
