Uncommitted Spotlight - 2024 Rankings Risers

Dan Jurik
Scouting Director - Pacific Northwest

Earlier this Fall we updated our 2024 class rankings for Washington. Class rankings are updated multiple times throughout the year with the goal of helping coaches/evaluators identify players in the area.

Today we're spotlighting 3 uncommitted prospects who are on the rise in the class after strong showings this summer and in the fall.

UNCOMMITTED SPOTLIGHT

2024 RANKINGS RISERS

Agassi Owen C / OF / Skyline, WA / 2024

Throwback, blue collar type player who is a gamer in-between the lines. Owen has a natural ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball with his combination of strength and instincts. Defensively the size and athleticism profiles well to C and he’s proven to be a capable receiver with ample arm talent to shut down the run game. Offensively, he creates above average bat speed with short, powerful levers. Consistently stays inside of his legs and has shown adjustability with his barrel. Upper half remains compact and is noticeably strong at the point of contact. Capable of driving the ball to all fields with line drive contact. One of the top overall position players still left on the board.

Andrew Rayment OF / RHP / Mt Spokane , WA / 2024

At 6’5, 195, Rayment is an above average athlete on the diamond who really showcased his tools this summer and cemented himself as a name-to-know heading into 2023. An above average runner with arm strength, he has a strong OF profile, especially as a LH bat. Easily covers ground defensively & shows a clean arm path with a high release on his throws. At the plate, he flashed quick, strong hands with a level path. For a taller athlete, he avoids getting too steep or loopy with his barrel and does a consistent job of driving the ball up the middle. On the mound, he worked from the stretch with a simple motion and consistent direction towards his catcher. Stays tall at leg lift with aggressive lead hip drive into landing. Shorter stride length helps him accelerate his arm into a high ¾ release. Sat 84-85 on our look at early August with reports he’s made a jump into the upper 80s now. Highly projectable arm.

Henry Gramelspacher RHP / 3B / Rochester, WA / 2024

After a quality showing back in February at our preseason events, Gramelspacher came out this Fall to Ridgefield in Oct. and showed a considerable velocity jump and impressive secondaries. The peak FB went from 82.5 to 88.0 mph between the 2 events while he also showed the ability to hold his velo in the 86-87 range consistently. At 6’0, 185, there’s compact strength in his frame that makes it easy for him to control his momentum down the slope and allows his arm speed to play up. It’s a short, tight arm path with late hand speed out front. Strong lower half helps him with his decel and he gets out over his front side with controlled intent. His spike CB has hard, downer action and the CH features late fading action. Overall, the 3 pitch mix gives him a chance to start at the next level and if he at least holds this velocity jump in the spring, he should be poised to have a tremendous season.
