Uncommitted '20 Seniors - Washington Pre Season ID
March 16, 2020
With no HS baseball being played for at least the next 6 weeks, we're going to be cycling back and putting out consistent content of all the players we've seen so far at various PBR events. We will be putting an emphasis on uncommitted seniors in the 2020 class. While the current situation effects everyone in the baseball community, seniors are being hit especially hard.
Let's take a look back and review all of the prospects who are still looking for a home that attended our WA Pre-Season ID in February.
For additional info, statistics and video on each player, click on their name to be taken to their profile page.

Alex Fiman LHP / 1B / Olympia, WA / 2020Large, high waisted frame at 6-foot-3, 190 pounds. Tall, narrow stance in the box with upright posture. Sets up with slight bend on his back leg. Gains significant amount of ground on the ball with his forward move. Swing has classic, left-handed uphill path with a high finish. Creates leverage with his lower half & can lift the ball easily. 90 mph exit velocity off the tee. Defensively, presents a huge target at 1B. Works down to the ball by bending at the waist, allowing chest to flatten out as he funnels in. Long, full arm path as he exchanges and gets into throwing motion. Keeps momentum behind the ball after release. On the mound, works from the center of the rubber with a steady, consistent delivery. Back leg stays extended during high leg lift. Slight cross action in landing. Full arm path with high, over the top release. Slight head jerk as he finishes his offerings. Creates tough downward angle when he stays behind the ball and gets to the bottom of the zone. FB/CB/CH mix. |
Brandone Veley 3B / RHP / Olympia, WA / 2020Strong, developed frame at 6-foot, 215 pounds. Sets up in a square, closed off stance with consistent movement/rhythm in his barrel. Strides into a toe-tap landing. Hands stay tight to rear shoulder as he uses a subtle scap load. Gets rotational power from strong lower half. Produced mostly line-drive contact in BP with a flat swing plane. Defensively, begins in a wide, balanced fielding position. Hips sink down to the ball as he funnels into throwing motion. Glove hand stays centered. Full arm swing after hand break. Maintains consistent rhythm with body control as he shuffles into throws. Kyle Wu 2B / 3B / Mercer Island, WA / 20206-foot, 160 pounds with a proportional build throughout his frame. Open, relaxed stance in the box with rhythm in his hands prior to load. Uses leg lift to gather weight back before beginning forward stride. Hands stay back & loaded in a strong hitting position at landing. Has a flat, line-drive stroke. Stays balanced thru contact. Defensively, gets feet moving early and stays active throughout fielding process. Showed the ability to control his glove hand while moving laterally. Stays under control, avoids getting rushed or playing too fast. Tight, bent arm action after exchange. Uses quick side shuffle towards target to get momentum behind throw. Ball shows consistent accuracy from ¾ release point. |

Sets-up in the box with an open stance before landing square to the pitcher with front side closed off. Hands stay loose/relaxed as he gets into landing. Hitting actions between upper and lower half sync together in rhythm, allowing Wutherich to stay on time with the pitch. Shows consistent footwork with a hop step in his pre-pitch routine on defense. Reacts to the ball quickly while staying under control. Movement stays fluid while fielding and he exhibits a soft glove hand when receiving the ball. Keeps arm action short when working from high ¾ release. On the mound, the body control from the INF translates to his throwing motion. Pitches with a sound, repeatable delivery. Stays tall/balanced at leg lift before pushing down the slope off of his back leg. Slight shoulder tilt at hand break but he flattens out as he gets into landing. Clean arm action with ¾ release. Head stays on target all the way thru finish. Showed feel for a 3-pitch arsenal, FB/CB/CH. |
