Continuing our look at the Top 10 most viewed profiles of 2020. We're at #8 in our list and we have '22 LHP Sam Boyle (Columbia River).

Boyle came on our radar way back in the summer of 2019 when the emerging underclassmen had a strong performance at the NW Scout Games at PK Park. Since then, he's continued to develop and trend in the right direction. Showing an uptick in velocity as well as advanced metrics & data on his offerings. The Washington commit is one of the top ranked players in the state for his class and lands in our national list of the Top 500.

For a more detailed breakdown, check out his "Trackman Confidential" piece from Shooter Hunt.

Scouting Report

1/27/20

This is the 2nd time we’ve had eyes on the promising lefty and Boyle continues to impress. Showed a slight up-tick in velocity from this last summer, sitting mostly 82-83 and touching 85 in this FB-only bullpen. Frame still projects at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds and the long, loose, whippy arm action will likely unleash more velo and pure stuff in 2020 and beyond. The Washington commit looks poised to remain one of the top pitching prospects in this 2022 class.

Boyle, a Washington commit, has moved into the national rankings for the 2022 class after a strong showing this past summer. The long, lanky lefty stands at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds with plenty of room to add more weight as he physically matures. Working from a 3/4 slot, Boyle sits 80-84 with his fastball and has a developing slurve at 67-71 that will likely be a reliable secondary offering for him at the next level. The arm action is shorter and more compact than you might anticipate given his long levers. The ball jumps out of his hand with sneaky life. He has shown the ability to work both sides of the plate and is a tough match-up against both right-handed and left-handed hitters.

Long-limbed with a clean, fluid arm. Boyle impressed at the NW Scout Games while also being one of the youngest participants. His FB ranges 80-84 and his slurve shaped breaking ball has the chance to be an above average offering. Hides the ball well and is an especially tough look on LHH.
