Prep Baseball Report

Final Day In The Pac NW

SEATTLE—For our last day in the Pacific Northwest, the weather was prototypical—cold and rainy. Anywhere else in the country and baseball wouldn’t be played, but most schools in the region have turf so we got to see Lakeside School, WA, take on Garfield HS, WA. It was our third look at OF Corbin Carroll (Lakeside School, WA) and we got to see SS Owen Cobb (Garfield HS, WA) and RHP Jared Feikes (Lakeside School, WA) as well.

Carroll was 0-for-3, looking out front and heavy on his front side. He struck out looking in his first at-bat, walked, scored a run, popped out and grounded out. Cobb, a Stanford recruit, has an athletic frame with good projection. He is an average runner and moves well at shortstop. At the plate, he has average bat speed and a short, level stroke from the right side. He was 1-for-3 with an RBI. The best ball he hit was a sacrifice fly to center field. His single was an infield squibber that had some English on it.

Feikes, a Santa Clara recruit with an average frame, was on the bump for Lakeside and went five innings, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out four. He pitched in the mid 80s, touching 87-88, and mixes in a slider at 73 and changeup with slight run at 81.
