Area Code Workout - Pitching Standouts (1/29/22)
February 3, 2022
This past weekend there was an indoor Area Code workout held for both Washington and Oregon prospects at New Level 360.
The workout was not part of the official tryout process for the Area Code event but rather an opportunity for more prospects to hopefully put themselves on scouts radar and earn an official invite to the tryouts later this summer.
The workout consisted of bullpens, batting practice and defense work. Although it was an extremely short and brief look at the players, there were plenty of strong performances throughout the night.
Below, we highlight some of the pitching performances that really stood out for us. This is NOT a top prospect list. There were several highly ranked prospects in attendance who performed well and reinforced why they are so highly regarded. This article features the prospects who we felt have made some of the most progress since our previous look at them or flashed some of the best upside at the event.
Players are listed in alphabetical order…
PITCHING STANDOUTS
AREA CODE WORKOUT (1/29/22)
‘23 LHP Jacob Bresnahan (Sumner/Seattle commit)
Bresnahan has always projected well with his wide upper half, long & lanky limbs plus his whippy arm action. The added size and strength is starting to pay off now and translated to a loose and easy 85-86, top 87 mph FB the other night. Working with repeatable effort, he kept his offerings around the zone and really took a step forward in projecting as a potential starter at the next level. Given his frame and slender build, it’s easy to project more velo in his future. He also worked in the CB/CH combination in his quick pen with the CB showing a little more refinement than the CH presently. All in all, things are really starting to come together for the Seattle commit and if he stays on this current trajectory he’ll be a well-rounded and overpowering southpaw.
