January 27, 2020
Puyallup, WA - With HS baseball season just on the horizon, some of the top players from across the state took a break from their winter workout schedule to attend a preliminary Area Code try-out at New Level 360 in Puyallup, WA.
The indoor event featured a strong collection of talent from both Washington and Oregon. It was great opportunity to be able to watch how the physical maturation process is beginning to impact players. As well as get eyes on some emerging arms for the first time.

PITCHERS
‘22 LHP Sam Boyle, Columbia River, Washington commit
This is the 2nd time we’ve had eyes on the promising lefty and Boyle continues to impress. Showed a slight up-tick in velocity from this last summer, sitting mostly 82-83 and touching 85 in this FB-only bullpen. Frame still projects at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds and the long, loose, whippy arm action will likely unleash more velo and pure stuff in 2020 and beyond. The Washington commit looks poised to remain one of the top pitching prospects in this 2022 class.
‘21 RHP Tommy Brandenburg, Kalama, Oregon commit
Athletic, proportional frame at 5-foot-11, 180 pounds. Brandenburg combines consistent body control with a quick, compact throwing motion. FB maintained 85-87 on this look. Stayed around the zone with the ability to work to both sides of the plate. Breaking ball had exceptional bite with slider shape at 74-76. Also showed an above average CH at 77-78, giving him one of the more complete, well-rounded arsenals on display.
‘21 LHP Davis Buckner, Snohomish, uncommitted
Strong, sturdy build at 6-foot, 210 pounds. Buckner uses his size/strength to drive the ball downhill from a high ¾ release point. FB peaked at 88 while sitting mostly 84-86. Features heavy life into the zone. CB has plenty of 2/7 shape while ranging between 72-75. CH should be a quality 3rd offering at....
