2022 State Rankings Update
April 4, 2021
As we prepare for HS baseball action in Washington for the first time in over a year, we will be releasing updated state rankings for the various graduating classes.
Although 2020 was anything but normal, players made the most of the opportunities they were handed when they could get out on the diamond.
Whether it was a local tournament, travel ball game or showcase opportunities, there were prospects to follow and watch develop.
This updated list expands to 180 prospects for the junior class. With a majority of junior players seeing varsity action for the first time this year, we expect to have plenty of movement and names to add with our future updates.
Since its inception in 2005, the Prep Baseball Report has evolved into one of the country’s biggest and most respected independent scouting services, with a singular focus of providing comprehensive year-round coverage in every state we are in. The mission of the Prep Baseball Report is to scout and promote amateur baseball - high school, junior college and college - and, ultimately, help athletes achieve their dreams of playing baseball at the next level.
Rankings are based off evaluations by scouting director Dan Jurik as well as additional PBR scouts across the country who have seen prospects from the state at various events.
With a majority of the prospects on the list uncommitted, the goal is for this information to help assist college coaches as they look to finalize their recruiting classes and add additional pieces to their roster.

JR Ritchie at #1
Continuing to hold down the #1 spot in 2022 is RHP JR Ritchie (Bainbridge). The UCLA commit has been on an upward trajectory since we first saw him in action during the spring of 2019. Since then, he’s blossomed from a projectable, live armed athlete into a polished pitching prospect with an advanced arsenal and noticeable poise on the mound. Ritchie came in at #10 overall in our latest national rankings for the 2022 class and he should continue to be an integral part of a strong and deep crop of prep pitching prospects in the junior class.
national prospects
SS Tyce Peterson (Juanita) stays at the #2 spot. The Washington commit is one of the best all-around athletes in the class and has added some extra physicality & strength to his offensive profile over the last year. LHP Sam Boyle (Columbia River/Washington commit) had a big year in 2020 with his development as his velocity creeped into the 90s and he flashed intriguing data when we had the chance to get some Trackman numbers on him. Oregon commit Dominic Hellman (Jackson) has some of the loudest tools in the class and a pro-ready frame to go with them. The raw power from the right side especially stands out. All 3 currently sit in the national rankings in our latest update.
Sam Boyle 4/29/20
power arms
RHP Felix Schlede (West Seattle/Washington commit), RHP Ryan Orr (Tumwater/Washington State commit) and RHP Jackson Cox (Toutle Lake/Oregon commit) form an incredibly impressive trio of right handed arms. Each has their own unique attributes and skill set that set them apart. Right now, Schlede leads the back due to his combination of size, velocity and pure stuff. But we expect this group to continue to shuffle amongst the Top 10 and won’t be surprised if these arms eventually land in the national rankings.
Felix Schlede (1/30/21)multi-sport athletes
Colton Bower (North Kitsap/Washington State commit) and Aidan Dougherty (Mount Si/Oregon State commit) are multi-sport athletes who stay in the top 10 due to their overall physicality and upside. Both should be 2 of the most dynamic offensive threats in the state as we get back into high school baseball.
