VA/DC Class of 2025 Rankings Update: Positional Risers

While there was no expansion to this rankings update, we did see plenty of movement throughout the Top 250. Today we want to highlight ten positional risers from inside the rankings. Included in this story are videos and insights into the movement for each player. Check back on Wednesday and Thursday to check where these ten positional players will land in the Top 250.



VA/DC Class of 2025: Positional Risers

Ayden Albright OF / OF / Mountain View, VA / 2025

Easy long strides, above average runner, lean strength, and ceiling left to the profile. Has shown the ability to impact the baseball at times and think that the offense has a chance to continue to grow. The athleticism and added strength, along with in game production, have allowed Albright to make a move up in the rankings.

 

 

Brian Archer C / 1B / Steward, VA / 2025

After a standout back end to the summer, the GW commit did not slow down this fall. The offensive output has taken big strides forward and the strength that he has long possessed has now started to translate into in-game results. 

 

 

Nick Felton OF / ST JOHNS COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL, VA / 2025

After moving up more than 125 spots in the last rankings update, Felton is poised to make another move up. Long and lean frame, bat to ball skills, and a premium defender in centerfield. With his combination of athleticism, present ability, and premium position projection, Felton may have one of the highest ceilings of any outfielder in this VA/DC 2025 class. 

 

 

Colin Kim OF / LHP / LANDSTOWN HIGH, VA / 2025

Kim continues to show his innate ability to put the bat on the ball. Willing and able to use the middle and backside of the field with adjustability in the swing. Kim is a well above average runner and has above average arm strength from the outfield. Next step for the Longwood commit? Quality contact rate and adding some strength that will potentially translate into his ability to impact the baseball are two areas that would really add to this 757 outfielder's profile.

 

 

Max Lawson SS / Briar Woods , VA / 2025

The Briar Woods HS shortstop will see a significant step up in this rankings update. The in-game offensive production continues to shine for Lawson. It is a simple and repeatable operation that allows him to get to the barrel on a frequent basis. The frame is a narrow, more lean physical makeup, but still has some room to add functional strength throughout. While the defensive profile projects more of a plug and play infielder, moving around to different spots, the bat should allow him to contribute on the offensive side. In the past, the offense has flashed, but lacked consistency at times and that is the main area that the Longwood commit has taken a step forward. 

 

 

Drew Lucy C / Miller School of Albemarle, VA / 2025

Although we have not seen the Charleston (WV) commit recently, his assessed ability to catch and throw allows him to make a small jump up in the rankings. Lucy is one of the better receivers in this class and while he may not have an elite arm, he has above average arm strength that pairs well with his ability to get the ball out of the glove and out of the hand quickly. In addition to a quick exchange and release, Lucy has been accurate to the bag. The offense still has some room to grow, as it is presently a contact bat. We feel that it will remain more contact driven and the defensive prowess is what carries the profile for Lucy. 

 

 

Jackson Okonkwo RHP / 1B / Greenbrier Christian Academy, VA / 2025

Limited and mixed evaluations of Okonkwo in the spring and summer did not allow our staff to get a confident feel of where the Old Dominion commit stood. However, we were able to take in a couple games this fall that gave our staff more insight into Okonkwo. Although this is a positional group of risers, Okonkwo is a two-way standout and showed as much in the middle of September. The XL 6-foot-5 frame RHP/1B made a loud impact at the plate and on the mound that weekend. He was up to 91 and flashed three secondary pitches, as well as had some very loud barrels, including the homerun in the video below. It is still to be determined where the ODU commit may slot best at the next level, but his physicality at the plate and on the mound will give him a chance to make an impact.

 

 

Ben Pulliam OF / SS / Glen Allen, VA / 2025

There are very few outfielders, and just players in general, that have had a more impactful year than Pulliam. Athletic corner outfielder with well above average arm strength and the ability to impact the baseball at the plate. The Longwood commit is an above average runner that possesses the tools to play either corner and potentially be an impact bat at the next level. Above average bat speed, heavy barrel, and can use the whole field with extra base power. While there is more power from the pull side gap to the line, he has consistently shown the ability to create extra base hits to the backside as well. 

 

 

Joey Raccuia SS / 2B / RADFORD HIGH, VA / 2025

The Radford commit is a fundamentally sound defender in the middle who has possessed that defensive ability to a bit. What allowed him to make that move up in this update? While still a contact/hit tool type of bat, his added strength and maturity have allowed the offense to grow. Raccuia just comes off as the guy, that when he shows up, you know what you are going to get day in and day out. 

 

 

Cam Tellefsen 3B / 1B / GOV STEM ACADEMY AT LANDSTOWN HIGH, VA / 2025

This Old Dominion commit is a great example of young hitter who continued to progress and whose abilities caught up with his size. Tellefsen has possessed an XL frame for quite some time, but in the last eight to twelve months everything has really synced up and he is moving better with that 6-foot-4 frame. The bat speed has increased, the in-game impact rate has increased, and has started to tap into more of the power that he possesses. It is still lean strength and has some room to add more, only adding to the intrigue of what could be in a few years.
