VA/DC 2027 Rankings Update: Risers

With a new rankings update and expansion, comes movement throughout. The younger the class, the less movement across the board because the ranking class is not as big as older classes. While there was not a ton of significant movement, there were a few players that made some jumps, some bigger than others. Take a look at five players who will make a jump up in the 2027 class update that will be released on Wednesday.

2027 Rankings Risers

Colt Bradshaw SS / 2B / FRANK W. COX HIGH, VA / 2027

Compact frame, electric, high motor athletic defender. The strength at the plate continues to show a little better than you would anticipate. Bat speed and able to leverage some power to the pull side. Would argue he may be the most complete defender in this class.

 

 

Cole Cinnamond 1B / LHP / GREAT BRIDGE HIGH, VA / 2027

Ultra projectable 6-foot-4 left hander with a high floor and an incredibly high ceiling. The upper 80's-low 90's fastball comes out with ease. Was up to 91 at Wake Forest in early August. Secondary continues to get better and as the arsenal depth develops, you will continue to see that floor rise along with it. Potential starter profile as he adds to his pitchability and secondary stuff.

 

 

Bryce Edick RHP / 3B / GRASSFIELD HIGH, VA / 2027

Edick may be the next arm in a line of quality arms to come out of the Grassfield program. The 6-foot-4 right hander shows the ability to control three pitches in the zone and has some starter potential. Low to mid 80's on the mound from a pretty easy effort operation. His strong, durable frame should allow him to continue to add mass and in turn add more velo as he matures. 

 

 

Robert Kilpatrick III RHP / OF / Washington-Liberty, VA / 2027

Long levered 6-foot-2 frame with lean strength throughout. Kilpatrick works from a low three-quarter arm slot with a short action. This summer at the 17U National Championships he was up to 87. Primarily a two pitch guy right now, the breaking ball will need to continue to firm up from its low 70's range. Intriguing arm to follow. 

 

 

Dan Kim RHP / OF / John Champe, VA / 2027

Kim was one of the more intriguing arms we saw this spring. While the velo still has some room to grow from its usual low 80's range, the 6-foot-3 frame and fairly easy delivery leave plenty to dream about. Slight crossfire to the delivery and works from a three-quarter slot, living on the outside half with the fastball. The secondary is still a work in progress, but this is an arm that could see some big innings for Champe and should continue to develop.
