It is with great excitement that we release to you today, our most recent rankings class, the class of 2027. We unveil the Top 25 players from across the Commonwealth.
While it is very early in the process, these are the players that we have identified as twenty-five of the best players in the state.
*The class will expand more and more as we get a chance to see more players in the class, whether it be at events, tournaments, or high school games.*
Checking in at #1 in the initial 2027 rankings is Virginia Tech commit, Teagan Leach.
Leach has a strong 6-foot-2, 199-pound frame. He has really leaned out and the body has made a significant turn in the right direction. Low to mid 80's arm on the mound from a lower slot. The left hander works from a tough lower slot and gets some significant arm side run to the fastball. While he is intriguing and has upside on the mound, the bat has really taken off. Not only is there easy, real in game power in the bat, but Leach has shown well above average bat to ball for his age and overall profile. The two-way ability is no doubt there, but most of all he has a two-plus tools that are pretty high end tools for his class.

Yogi Colangelo takes the #2 spot for the initial 2027 rankings release. Like Leach, the hit tool is real. Left handed bat with balance, barrel feel, and it is a simple and repeatable operation. He has shown the ability to adjust to counts and has adjustability in the swing. The run tool is slightly above average for his class, turning out multiple 4.5-4.6 turns when we saw him this fall. Right now Yogi fits a 3B/2B profile and is athletic enough to stay in the infield, but regardless of where things trend defensively over the next few years, the bat maintains so much value for the Virginia Tech commit.

Following his fellow Virginia Tech commits is another Battlefield freshman, Chase Colangelo. Once again, another left handed bat that has a touch more defensive value with the ability to defend up the middle. Average runner and plays a touch quicker on the defensive side because of his ability to get solid reads and angles off the bat. The bat shows doubles power working gap to gap and has more hit tool than raw power. There is length in the zone out front creating some adjustability and the offense will continue to get better as he matures and adds strength.

Checking in at the #5 position is Cosby freshman, Blake LaMattina. The two-way standout has an athletic frame with proportional strength. LaMattina has shown some doubles power to the middle and pull with the potential for more as he adds strength. Adjusts with two strikes and solid bat to ball, showing some ability to use the whole field. On the mound, it is a fairly easy and athletic operation. Above average arm speed with effortless low 80's velo and more to come in his future.
