Yesterday we released our first 2027 rankings for Virginia/DC with a Top 25 release.
Today we want to highlight fifty players from across the Commonwealth and DC that are in strong consideration for rankings. In future updates, it is very likely that some of these names move their way into the ranks. Watch out for these players as they continue to develop and make gains.
First player we would like to highlight is Junior Future Games alum, Tommy Kocot (Alexandria City). Kocot has an athletic 6-foot frame and has flushed the ability to impact the game at the plate. Proportional strength to the frame and should fill out well as he matures. Average to slightly above average runner for the position and class, hangs in a small leg lift to load, and works gap to gap with doubles power. His versatility and athleticism should continue to progress as he adds strength and matures.

Blake O'Berry was a standout arm at the Mid-Atlantic State Games this fall. The Menchville arm has a unique ability to spin it. Typically, arms at his age and class are more concerned with velo and trying to overpower hitters. O'Berry attacks in the zone and has two well above average breaking balls that seperate him from most other arms at his age. As he continues to grow and add stength, the velo will come, but the pitchability and edge he has on the mound are two standout features for this 757 arm.

The western portion of the state looks very promising with the 2027 class. Some made it into the initial Top 25 and a few others are here in the 50 to Follow. A few names like Waylon Ammons, Seth Carter, Thomas Knight, and Mason Mantz are just a few.
Ammons is a really solid defender up the middle. Has a long rangy frame with proportional strength. Comes forward well and can throw on the run with accuracy and solid body control for a young infielder. The St. Anne's Belfield freshman will be one to follow as he continues to add strength and polish to the offense.

Good piece here by the 2nd baseman getting on top of the high FB and driving it to RCF for a single. Good feel for the barrel staying flat through the zone. @BREbaseball #VAFallOpen pic.twitter.com/cgWwdTrZyq
Seth Carter is a 6-foot-3 RHP/OF with plenty of arm strength and power potential in the bat. Carter is also part of a strong freshman class for Pulaski County that should be a close follow for schools going forward.

Long lanky frame with room to fill. Balanced setup with rhythm in hands. Worked middle to pull side.@nrv_tigers #PBRScoutDay pic.twitter.com/zmrXhLhoQ8
Thomas Knight is a freshman at Madison County and shows some of the best in game power for a freshman bat. The left handed hitting 1B/LHP has some physicality to the frame and will continue to make gains as he adds polish.

Puts a nice swing on this one but right at the CF. Gets hands set nicely that allows him to continuously barrel balls and hit balls up the middle and to the opposite field.@usaprimeva #PBRVaOpen pic.twitter.com/e8kRzqcqRv
And finally Mason Mantz. The Turner Ashby freshman is a bit undersized, but as he has shown the past two years at Junior Future Games, the offense shows up in big spots and he plays with a ton of energy. As Mantz fills out and defines his positional role and defensive value, the profile should continue to grow.
