While all other classes received an update in February, the 2024 class did not. We had not seen many, or really any 2024's since the fall, therefore there was nothing to update. However, with a majority of players on high school teams from across the state are seniors, we have had an ample amount of time to evaluate all of the upperclass talent.
Without further ado, here is the update to the Virginia/DC Class of 2024.
- Griffin Burkholder holds at #1 in the state. The West Virginia commit has the best set of tools with the highest ceiling of any prospect in the state. He has not only solidified his spot as the top talent in Virginia/DC, but his national rank and draft status have continued to climb.
- James Nunnallee climbs to #2 in the state. The Virginia commit has high end bat to ball skills, is an above average runner, and is a versatile athlete that hits from the left side.
- Making climbs into the Top 10 are Alex Peltier (East Carolina) and Tanner Schaedel (Old Dominion). Peltier moves up from #11 to #7 after he showcase his continued advancement in the box and his elite run tool. Tools to stay in centerfield and the physical makeup that offers more intrigue for the future. Schaedel makes the biggest move, climbing from #15 to #8. What gave Schaedel the steam to make that jump? While he may not have the ceiling of some others, he has a strong set of tools that tend to show up in game. The ODU commit is a high school two-way talent that will be a bat at the next level.
- At this point as seniors, there is still consideration of the projection and ceiling that is left to a player's profile, but current ability and performance begin to weigh heavier into that profile.
