This week we will highlight some of the top performers from the 2024 high school season. Today is the day everyone has been waiting for, the First Team All-State Selections.

*Please note, stats MUST have been submitted in order for a player to be considered for an All-State team.*

* Each 3rd-1st team All-State teams will contain 5 Pitchers, 4 Infielders, 3 Outfielders, 2 Catchers, and 2 Two-Way players."

*Stats below reflect what was submitted prior to the June 3rd deadline.*

Pitchers

Cooper Campbell RHP / OF / EC Glass, VA / 2024

The VCU commit has been one of the most prolific arms in the state over the past 15 months. Totaled 62 IP this year, was 6-1, had a .61 WHIP, .68 ERA, and a gaudy 116 strikeouts on the year. Campbell was named Pitcher of the Year in the Seminole District.

Brendan Cowen LHP / LHP / Tuscarora, VA / 2024

Cowen is one of the most competitive arms you will find. He was 5-2 on the year, but did not have a big offensive output from his Huskies team that would have allowed those numbers to be a little higher. 47 total innings pitched, 88 strikeouts, and a .596 ERA to top it off. The Tusky senior and Super 60 alum is headed to Virginia Tech.

Jake Drumm RHP / 3B / Lake Braddock, VA / 2024

The George Mason commit continued his success at Lake Braddock with another stellar year on the mound (and at the plate). Drumm threw 54.1 IP (when stats were reported) and had eight wins on the year. In addition to the high win total, Drumm had a .902 ERA and 76 strikeouts on the year. Going into the state tournament, Drumm had only four walks all year, displaying his ability to command the strikezone.

Caleb Fletcher RHP / RHP / Woodgrove, VA / 2025

Until Fletcher's final game of the year, he had not given up an earned run all season. 50 IP, five wins, 97 strikeouts, and a .14 ERA is impressive to say the least. The ODU commit and Woodgrove right-hander came back from West Virginia this high school season and certainly made his mark as one of the top arms in the state.

Joshua Givens RHP / Auburn, VA / 2025

46.2 IP on the year, allowed only 13 hits, 2 earned runs, and 93 strikeouts. Givens held a .30 ERA after not allowing a single earned run for the majority of the year. Givens is a dominant arm in the southwest portion of Virginia, and a large part of the Auburn Eagles' success.

Infielders

Ethan Ball 3B / SS / McLean, VA / 2025

What a season for the Virginia Tech commit. Twenty-five games in, Ball was batting .463 with nearly 50% of his hits being extra base hits. This total included four homeruns, which continued to creep up through the playoffs. Ball combined for 22 runs scored and 22 RBI.

Jamie Laskofski SS / RHP / Lake Braddock, VA / 2024

Another Lake Braddock first teamer. Laskofski has put together a multi-year high school career that many would dream of. He capped off his senior season batting .483, scored 25 runs, struck out only ONCE, and swiped 10 bags. The William & Mary commit surpassed 100 high school hits this season.

Jackson Sirois SS / 2B / Paul VI, VA / 2024

In a very tough WCAC conference, as well as a tough overall schedule for the PVI Panthers, SIrois hit .433 with nearly 50% of his hits being extra base hits. Sirois drove in 39 runs and scored 34 of his own. The UVA commit more than doubled his walks in comparison to strikeouts, as well as swiped seventeen bags on the year.

TJ Woodson SS / RHP / Hanover , VA / 2025

As a focal point for an offense, Woodson hit .532 on the season. The Baylor commit is an elite defender, but this year he took some ownership in the Hanover program, pacing the offense. Woodson scored 30 runs, only struck out 4 times in comparison to his 15 walks, and was 19-19 on stolen bases.

Outfielders

Griffin Burkholder OF / Freedom, VA / 2024

The MLB Draft hopeful had a strong senior season, especially for the way that he was pitched to at times. Burkholder, a WVU commit, hit .453 with half of his hits coming via extra bases. The Freedom outfielder battled with some injuries at times this season, but was able to drive in 21 while scoring 17 of his own runs.

Caden Merritt OF / RHP / Gainesville, VA / 2025

Sort of on cue, Merritt had a ridiculous junior season. 3 homeruns, 24 RBI, and a eye opening 34 runs scored. Merritt showed the run tool, swiping 27 bags on the season. In addition to the offense, Merritt has had multiple impressive days in front of our staff and continues to trend and polish up. VMI commit.

Seth Truesdale C / OF / Cosby, VA / 2024

A remarkable year for the Richard Bland commit. The 4-year starter hit .533 this season, had 32 hits, including 7 doubles annd 2 homeruns. Truesdale drove in 22 runs and scored 19 of his own with an OPS of 1.313.

Catchers

Jacob Lee C / OF / Matoaca, VA / 2024

I am not even sure you can say breakout year, because Lee has had a mountain of success the past year or two, but this year it was a little different. Lee hit .551 with 6 doubles, 2 triples, and 8, yes 8, homeruns. Lee's RBI, Runs Scored, and Stolen Bases tallies are just another credit to the season he had. 31 RBI, 32 Runs, and 22 Stolen Bases, while a better than 3:1 BB/K ratio. Lee was the backbone of a very succesful Matoaca team and the Future Games alum is setup to be a potenial early contributor at VCU.

Michael Urbaniak II C / 1B / Greenbrier Christian, VA / 2024

Urbaniak hit .488 this year on the front end of the GCA lineup. Like Lee, one of the most impressive things is the number of RBI, Runs Scored, and Stolen Bases that the Longwood commit totaled. 30 RBI from the leadoff spot, 34 Runs Scored, and 24 Stolen Bases on the season. Urbaniak was the Metro Conference and VISAA DII Player of the Year.

Two-Way

Jake Mutter SS / RHP / Tabb , VA / 2025

Mutter was recently tabbed as the Class 3 State Player of the Year by the VHSL. The uncommittted two-way talent hit .562 in the Bay Rivers District, a district that has produced three State Champions the last two seasons. Mutter also threw 51.2 IP, tallied 71 strikeouts, and had a 1.355 ERA on the season.

Tanner Schaedel 3B / RHP / Cape Henry Collegiate , VA / 2024

Schaedel hit .433 versus a very tough schedule and competition. In that .433, the ODU commit had 9 doubles, 4 triples, and 5 homeruns for the season. Schaedel had some of the biggest RBI numbers in the state, that we have seen. He had 39 RBI and 28 runs scored. 39.2 IP on the year, 48 strikeouts, and a 1.941 ERA.
