Our staff took in two games with PDG Academy this fall, one versus Pro 5 Academy and the most recent versus Bryant & Stratton (JUCO). We will take a look at some standouts from both of those days.
Riley Gibson RHP / OF / PDG, NC / 2026Short outing vs Pro 5, but Gibson showed his arm strength and upside. Low three-quarter arm slot with plenty of arm speed and athleticism in the delivery. The recent reclass (moved to 2026) sat 90-92 in his short work and flashed a 79-82 mph slider that had above average future potential. The slider ranged in the 2500-2600 RPM range. Will be an intriguing one to watch the recruitment develop.

Carsten Hamilton SS / 2B / PDG, SC / 2027Hamilton didn't waste any time to impress as he took advantage in his first at bat swinging first pitch sending a hard hit double down the left field line. It is a lean, athletic frame with evident strength but still more room to add. Not only did he impress at the plate but he made mutiple plays at shortstop showing off some range and arm strength making plays on the move with ease. There are some intruiging tools that Hamilton displays that are worth to keep an eye on down the road.

Myles Mayse C / 3B / PDG Academy, VA / 2025The best available bat remaining in the 2025 class, and one of the best hit tool/power combo bats in the state. Mayse has shown an ability to create impact from both sides of the plate, but for us he has probably shown more power from the right side while displaying a solid hit tool and more consistent from the left side. It is a solid, compact frame that brings a chance to make an early impact in a lineup.

Joey Raccuia SS / 2B / RADFORD HIGH, VA / 2025It was a multi hit day as the offense continues to trend up for Raccuia. He showed the ability to work deep into counts and hit with two strikes. He came up in a big spot in his first at bat sending a ball through the left side to score two that got the offense in a rhythm. He came back up later in the game sending a line drive into left for his second hit of the day. You know you are going to have a defender up the middle, but having the offense improve is a plus.

Dylan Singleton LHP / PDG Academy, UT / 2025It was our first time seeing Singleton, who made his way to Fredericksburg from Utah. It is a pretty easy and clean operation in the delivery, with some late violence and a head knock at the end. Longer arm swing, creates above average arm speed, and works from a low three-quarter arm slot. The fastball sat 86-88 and displayed some command early in the outing. The changeup was 76-77 mph and got a strikeout early on with the secondary pitch. Worked around some two out baserunners and a little traffic, but managed to punch three out in the second. Mostly fastball-changeup in this outing. Notre Dame commit.

Charles Tobler III OF / RHP / PDG Academy, VA / 2026It was an all around standout day for Tobler as he found different ways to impact the game on both sides. On the mound he dominated hitters as he picked up three strikeouts. He dominated in the zone with the fastball getting swing ajd miss working in the 86-88 range. The mid 70's slider flashed some finishing traits getting some swing and miss late in counts. Offensively he showed off some of that added strength where he sent a hard hit ball off the left field wall for a double. He stood out in the outfield as well running down baseballs with ease showing off some speed and quality reads. While there is some two way intrigue right now, the upside for him can ultimately be on the mound.

Joseph Vaccarella RHP / 1B / PDG Academy , NJ / 20256-foot-4, 220-pound XL frame with proportional strength. Full arm swing and builds intent throughout the delivery. High three-quarter arm slot and creates some downhill plane on the 86-88 mph fastball. Showed two secondary offerings on the day, including a 69-71 mph breaking ball and a tighter 79-80 mph slider. Vaccarella is a recent Army commit.
