On Wednesdays this spring, NOVA Scouting Coordinator John Nolan will post videos his scouting notes on players that stood from his last week of coverage of the 2024 High School season.
This week will feature players from Alexandria City, Battlefield, Centreville, Herndon, McLean, West Potomac, West Springfield.
Alexandria City
Liam Jones RHP / 1B / Alexandria City, VA / 2025Jones is uncommitted and has an athletic frame with some strength present, especially in the lower half. He has some crossfire and deception in the delivery, shorter arm action and works from a low three-quarters slot. Fastball was 86-87, a velocity that he was still holding in the fourth inning. Showed a curveball at 73-74 with 11/5 break and a change-up as well. |
Sawyer McElhatton / 3B / Alexandria City , VA / 2024

Battlefield
Garrett Camp 3B / RHP / Battlefield , VA / 2026Camp has an athletic frame and I discussed him on the mound last week, this week he showed out at the plate. He barrelled a pair of balls late in Battlefield's Friday game against Herndon. He has a short swing and shows gap power with some barrel feel as well. The stuff on the mound, especially the very spinny breaking ball is pretty good right now and has a chance to continue to improve, but the bat and defensive ability make him very much a two-way prospect. |
Yogi Colangelo 2B / 2B / Battlefield, VA / 2027Colangelo is a Virginia Tech commit and the number 2 player in our current Class of 2027 Rankings. That ranking was evident on Friday night as he put on a power and speed display that was something else. In his first at-bat, he beat out a routine sacrifice bunt for an infield single. In his second at-bat, he demolished this ball to centerfield, beating the centerfielder over his head and legging out a triple. If it hadn't been directly into the wind it would have been a home run. He barrelled a pair of super deep fly balls like this one later in the game that got run down in left-center. He has a mature all-fields approach and shows power to them, with plenty more to come as he continues to age and mature. |
Teagan Leach LHP / 1B / Battlefield, VA / 2027Leach is a Virginia Tech commit and the top player in our Class of 2027 Rankings. He was also in last week's post for his pitching, but today will be about his hitting, which is ultimately what he is likely headed to Blacksburg to do. The kid has absurd strength and power, even more so than his physically imposing frame would suggest. The pitch below is a first pitch outside fastball and he blasted it to very deep left-center for a 2-run double. I liked the aggression in an RBI spot, not waiting for something to pull but jumping on something that he could do damage on. I also liked his second at-bat, he came up with Yogi on third and less than two outs and had a good team at-bat, hitting a grounder to the right side to bring the run in. His approach in the spot was definitely different and changes from at-bat to at-bat, which shows a lot of maturity for a freshman. His ability to adjust his approach and strategy combined with his raw ability is very impressive. |
Luke Raflo C / 3B / Battlefield, VA / 2027Raflo has a lankier athletic frame and hits in the four hole as the fourth freshman in a row at the top of the Battlefield lineup currently. He has an all fields approach and takes mature good at-bats. Last week, he had the best swing of the night off of Cowen, barrelling a ball for a deep fly ball to centerfield. In the at-bat below, he had a very very long at-bat, fighting off multiple pitches until he got something he could line for a base hit. He has barrel feel and projects to more power. Also a quick release and strong arm behind the plate as well. |
Josh Weppner RHP / OF / Battlefield, VA / 2026

Centreville
Caysen Chadha SS / RHP / Centreville, VA / 2026
|
Jackson Rakes OF / SS / Centreville, VA / 2025
|
Herndon
Lukas Lambrinides 1B / Herndon, VA / 2025
|
Charles Morgan OF / Herndon, VA / 2026Morgan has a strong athletic frame. Showed an all fields approach that really sets up well the other way or up the middle. Drove multiple balls in the game towards right and right-center, where he shows some present gap power. He has some physicality so it will be interesting to see what happens when he starts turning on balls. |
McLean
Alex Gonzalez 2B / SS / McLean, VA / 2025Just caught a real quick look at Gonzalez in his third inning of work after seeing him at Prep Baseball First Pitch. Its a lankier athletic frame with a loose quick arm that works. In the third inning, he was holding 85 with his fastball and his breaking ball was 77. During First Pitch, it was a tick higher at the start of his outing. Really like the arm and breaking ball and think there is some velocity upside there, an uncommitted 2025 to see for sure. |
West Potomac
Liam Cardman RHP / RHP / West Potomac, VA / 2025
|
John Colligan SS / OF / West Potomac , VA / 2024
|
Austin Dean LHP / 1B / West Potomac, VA / 2025Dean is a Virginia Tech commit with a very tall athletic frame. Some strength present but still plenty of projection left. He has a short, clean arm action with some quickness to it, throws from a three-quarters slot, shoulders are slightly closed off as he strides out and he has a bit of crossfire in the delivery. Touched an 88 in the first inning with his fastball and was 86-87 in the inning, velocity dropped off a bit in his second inning of work, but both were pretty long innings. Slider was 76-78 in the first with some tight late 2/8 break, threw it for strikes and got swing and misses on it.

West Springfield
Kaleb Williams SS / 3B / West Springfield , VA / 2025Williams is a VCU commit and a Future Games alum. Caught a real quick glance at one at-bat on Friday night after other members of our staff had seen him twice in the previous week as well. As always, the kid hammers baseballs. Pretty much any time I have ever seen him he has launched a rocket like the double below, even as a freshman. Athletic frame, moves with some quick twitch, gap power present to all fields, and just takes good at-bats, all the time. |
