Today we are highlighting players from the 2026-2027 classes for their performance at the recent Mid-Atlantic ProCase at Patriot Park North in Fairfax, VA.

Barrett Bucholz C / OF / ATLEE HIGH, VA / 2026

"The Virginia commit opened up the day showing off his athleticism with a 6.68 60 yard dash. The athleticism that he brings plays a big part to his success whether it is at the plate or the ability to play different positions in the field. Bucholz showed good adjustability staying on a breaking ball for a single in game play."

-Jordan Jones (VA/DC Assistant Scouting Director)

Jayden Davis OF / RHP / AMHERST COUNTY HIGH, VA / 2026

"Coming off of a Future Games appearance, Davis continues to show he can be a big time arm. He is an athletic mover on the mound with quick arm speed and easy effort that gives his stuff a chance to be special. Davis worked in the upper eighties with the fastball that has plenty of life through the zone. His bread and butter is his power curveball that made hitters uncomfortable getting plenty of swing and miss. Davis is one of the big time arms in the 2026 class that won't be on the board much longer."

-Jordan Jones (VA/DC Assistant Scouting Director)

Ben Drinkwine OF / 3B / Lightridge, VA / 2026

"Drinkwine is a physically imposing player with a strong 6-foot-2, 210-pound frame. He took an extremely loud round of batting practice showing off his raw power. He delivered a heavy barrel working gap to gap during rounds. There is sneaky athleticism in the physical frame with a chance to be a big time power bat."

-Jordan Jones (VA/DC Assistant Scouting Director)

Shota Fogus RHP / OF / Bishop O'Connell, VA / 2026

"Struggled to land the fastball and slider early in the outing, but got better as he progressed. Was missing just above the zone with the 86-88 mph fastball and the mid 70's slider worked mostly glove side. The fastball got some swings and misses in the upper portion of the zone and he was able to extend a few times because he was consistently in the upper third. The slider is more 11/5 and showed some depth."

- Jason Burton (VA/DC Scouting Director)

Ethan Frank OF / CALVERT HALL COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL, MD / 2026

"It was another look at the 2024 Future Gamer, as the athleticism and tools continue to strengthen. Gap-to-gap approach with line drive tendencies at the dish, showcasing the occasional ability to create backspin to the middle. As the body fills out, look for more power to develop resulting in the hit tool to flourish. Big fall/winter ahead."

- Jamie Naill Jr. (MD/DE Scouting Director)

Jalen German RHP / 1B / Trinity Episcopal , VA / 2026

"It was a strong outing for the recent Coastal Carolina commit. German attacked hitters with a three pitch mix making quick work. The fastball worked up to 91 with heavy sinking action. The slider was an effective pitch in different counts keeping hitters guessing. The changeup continues to improve as it tunnels well off of the sinking fastball."

-Jordan Jones (VA/DC Assistant Scouting Director)

Will Haynie 3B / SS / Atlee, VA / 2026

"Haynie had a solid all around day showcasing his versatility. A big thing that continues to stand out for me is his toughness at the plate. In one at bat, he showed the ability to foul tough pitches off eventually getting something he could handle for a double. Haynie plays with a high motor that can impact the game in many ways."

-Jordan Jones (VA/DC Assistant Scouting Director)

Miguel Leon SS / 2B / JOHN CARROLL SCHOOL, MD / 2026

"The University of Maryland commit started his day off with his best 60-yard time at Prep Baseball events, turning out a 6.85. The body maturation is evident, now standing at a strong 5-foot-10, 170 pounds with evident athleticism that impacts in all phases. Rhythm in the hands with the ability to manipulate the barrel at the dish is impressive, spraying line drives to both gaps with some added power to the pull side. The defensive actions continue to scream versatility and has shown the ability to pick it across multiple infield spots and run it down in the outfield."

- Jamie Naill Jr. (MD/DE Scouting Director)

Eli Livingston OF / RHP / St. Paul's School, MD / 2026

"The left-handed swing looked as smooth and controlled as ever at this year's Procase, showcasing the consistent ability to backspin to the pull side gap and spray line drives to all fields. As the approach and barrel feel increase, look for power numbers to continue to rise with the ability to showcase some power to the opposite field. One of, if not the most impressive swings I've seen from Livingston came in game on Sunday, as the 5-foot-11, 185-pounder stayed on a 90 mph fastball and laced a loud line drive back up the middle."

- Jamie Naill Jr. (MD/DE Scouting Director)

Nico Moritz-Toledo OF / 1B / Battlefield, VA / 2027

"Moritz-Toledo had a solid round of batting practice showing a short, compact stroke with the ability to use the whole field. There is some strength to the pull side that he showcased when he got the barrel out early later in rounds. He is a premium runner that is versatile in many aspects of the game. The Hokies commit is going to be a name that you are going to continue to hear for the years to come."

-Jordan Jones (VA/DC Assistant Scouting Director)

Daniel Nienaber RHP / 1B / Glen Allen , VA / 2026

"The Virginia commit flashed some of the big upside that he has on Sunday. It is a low effort delivery and with long levers the baseball gets on hitters quick. The fastball worked up to 92 getting swing and miss in the zone. The secondary wasn't as sharp as it has been in previous looks, but are still promising offerings that could be true out pitches down the road."

-Jordan Jones (VA/DC Assistant Scouting Director)

Joshua Perez RHP / 1B / Spotyslvania, VA / 2026

"Durable frame, fast arm, easy velo. The secondary needs to add polish and consistency, but the arm talent is real. Now, he can compete on the fastball alone, but for where the arm can land at the next level, the secondary will need to tighten up. This has a chance to be a special arm long term."

- Jason Burton (VA/DC Scouting Director)

Connor Quill 3B / SS / Tuscarora , VA / 2026

"Proportional 6-foot, 190-pound frame. Left handed hitter who has shown the ability to impact the baseball. Hover lift back, gets into back hip, and hands are pretty quiet throughout the load. Hits against a firm front side and head stays behind at contact. Pull side tendency to the swing and that is where the best impact lies. Defensively, the arm will need to get stronger and the functionality of it will as well. Right now, I would say more corner left field/first base long term. Although the run tool is average, he did show some really solid range going back on a ball at second base."

- Jason Burton (VA/DC Scouting Director)

Evan Salapka RHP / ATLEE HIGH, VA / 2026

"Coming off of a solid outing at Future Games, Salapka continued that trend on Sunday. The big right hander filled up the zone and mixed pitches. The fastball worked in the mid eighties getting up to 88. The slider was the go to secondary getting swing and miss in the zone. The uncommitted righty continues to trend in the right direction"

-Jordan Jones (VA/DC Assistant Scouting Director)

Jack Woda C / 3B / BISHOP DENIS J. OCONNELL HIGH SCHOOL, VA / 2026

"Woda impressed throughout the day on Sunday as he put different parts of his game on display. He started the day displaying his run tool turning out a 6.66 60 yard dash. He then put on a loud batting practice showcasing his strength to the pull side. It is a plus arm behind the plate with true catch and throw ability. The tools continue to improve and stand out each look."

-Jordan Jones (VA/DC Assistant Scouting Director)

Franklin Zerpa C / 3B / DEMATHA CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL, MD / 2027

"Strong and physical frame for the 6-foot, 190-pound catcher. Quiet movements throughout. Stays controlled on the load and stride, then delivers the barrel with authority. Above average hand speed and rotates pretty well into the swing. Strong hands behind the plate and is a solid receiver with above average arm strength. Advanced strength for his class."

- Jason Burton (VA/DC Scouting Director)
