This Future Games Spotlight series will highlight and take a deeper dive into the player performances from Team Virginia/DC's week at Future Games, as well as an overall report on what we have seen from these players over the past year.

Shota Fogus RHP / OF / Bishop O'Connell, VA / 2026

Compact 5-foot-11 frame. Repeatable, normal effort delivery to the plate. Has a shorter arm action and works from a three-quarter arm slot. This was an up and down outing for Fogus. First thing, the velo was 87-89 and touched 90 mph, so as good as, if not a tick better than we have seen it. As usual, he did a solid job of landing his two secondary pitches for strikes, especially the mid 70's slider. The changeup is a quality third pitch, sitting in the low 80's and most effective versus left handed hitters.

Fogus got ahead of virtually every hitter and guys found themselves in two strikes counts usually within the first three pitches. While he did get ahead early and often, the counts worked deep, not necessarily because of command, but due to guys not giving into counts and fouling off multiple pitches. This ran the pitch count up quickly and he labored a bit deeper into the inning. Again, the command/control was solid, but just did not put hitters away once they got to two strikes. His second inning was a bit more efficient than the first and he still showed some pitchability throughout, just was not able to finish off counts during this outing.
