This Future Games Spotlight series will highlight and take a deeper dive into the player performances from Team Virginia/DC's week at Future Games, as well as an overall report on what we have seen from these players over the past year.

Mark Van Tuyle RHP / OF / Heritage (Leesburg), VA / 2026

Athletic 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame. Now a junior, Van Tuyle is on the younger side of his class, just turning 16 in early July. The right hander had a phenomenal sophomore season for Heritage (Leesburg). While he has been more bat than arm early in his high school career, the arm seems to have taken to the forefront of the profile and recruitment. Low three-quarter arm slot, quick arm, and a high aptitude for spin. One thing we saw all summer was his ability to spin the upper 70's slider whenever he wanted to, and nothing changed during this outing. Slider was up to 81 mph, but sat mostly 77-79 with fairly elite raw spin numbers (2900 RPM). It was encouraging and exciting to see the fastball velo tick up just a bit, sitting 86-88 and touching 89 mph during his outing. Van Tuyle also showed a mid 70's changeup as a third pitch.

The slider is really good and the fact that he can throw it for strikes when he wants, and throw it firmly, adds plenty of intrigue to this NOVA arm. Fierce competitor on the mound, but does so pretty quietly. He pitches, gets outs, does not find many barrels, and the athleticism he possesses leaves plenty to dream on long term.
