This Future Games Spotlight series will highlight and take a deeper dive into the player performances from Team Virginia/DC's week at Future Games, as well as an overall report on what we have seen from these players over the past year.

Jalen German RHP / Trinity Episcopal , VA / 2026

Strong, physical right hander with broad-rounded shoulders. German stands at 6-foot-2, 225-pounds and has present strength throughout. It is a durable frame with some maturity to it and you would lean towards the body being able to hold up to the demands of a college season. While there are definitely some gaudy offensive numbers that he can put on display, he is an arm first and I expect he will be an arm only at the next level, but BP can certainly be fun to watch. On the mound it is a power sinker that typically lives in the 87-89 range when we are talking an extended outing, but will certainly throw up his share of 90-91's and flash a 92 every once in a while. Earlier in the high school season the slider showed promise in the velo department, but lacked shape and feel. That is probably the biggest improvement for German, and one thing that made him an easy choice to be on Team Virginia/DC. The slider maintains its low 80's velo, while adding some depth and an improved feel for the pitch. He will show an occasional changeup and is a developing third pitch. The changeup could be huge in terms of starter potential down the road.

At Future Games German threw against South Carolina. He had a rocky start to his inning, but looking back on the performance it was a bit of tough luck in the first. Got in a positive count and hit a batter, and then a couple of infield singles and ground ball singles later, the inning had gotten away from him. After coming back out in the second he did a much better job settling in and allowed the sinker to do the work. He is best when he is down in the zone and tends to get weak contact on the ground. Because of the sinker profile, German tends to get some chases down and out of the zone with the slider and has a chance to be a well above average pitch at the next level.

High effort, high energy guy that feeds off of adrenaline when he is on the mound. Could stand to harness some of those emotions at times and allow him to slow the game down when he does not have his "A" stuff. Would lean bullpen arm now because of the lack of the third pitch, but the changeup has flashed some promise down the road and if the slider can continue to make gains and be a consistent offering, it could definitely add to his value.

German was the first Team Virginia/DC player to make his commitment after Future Games. He is now committed to Coastal Carolina.
