This Future Games Spotlight series will highlight and take a deeper dive into the player performances from Team Virginia/DC's week at Future Games, as well as an overall report on what we have seen from these players over the past year.

Aaron Dierks RHP / 1B / WEST SPRINGFIELD, VA / 2026

Not only did the 6-foot-3, 205-pound right hander flash the best velo for Team Virginia, he also showed quite possibly the deepest arsenal on the mound. In retrospect, Dierks' performance was probably the loudest for any arm we had. The fastball sat 90-92 mph through his two innings of work. Dierks' heater is downhill with more of a cutter shape to it and played well to the gloveside. As I stated previously, Dierks' secondary was equally as good as the fastball. He has shown a breaking ball that can vary in shapes at times, but the feel does not vary. Depth and seems to have the feel to manipulate the shape a bit, causing the variations in the look. Mid 80's changeup that is more than capable of being a quality third pitch.

There is some funk in the delivery and arm action, which I think can work to his favor at times. It is not the cleanest arm swing, but when he gets it to the top there is some whip through release and it has a tendency to jump on hitters. Thought he did a solid job of maintaining that arm speed on the secondary.

Overall, Dierks had two really strong performances this summer in front of our staff and is poised to make a sizable jump in this upcoming rankings update. He has shown ability to control/command three pitches, is efficient with pitch counts, velo continues to creep up, and has some potential makings of a starter.
