Top Prospect Games II

Cheifetz is 5-11 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a shorter arm action that is loose and lightning quick, easy effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish and some recoil, simple clean delivery. Fastball 83-86, touching 87, with some late run to armside that gets a bit of sink as well. Curveball was 67-69 with good armspeed and sharp 11/5 break. True slider was 77-79 with good armspeed and late 10/4 break. Ability to throw all three for strikes.

Cheifetz has a lankier athletic frame with a lot of projection to it. Throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a loose arm action that is quick, normal to easier effort to his delivery. Only threw one inning so I missed getting video on him. Fastball was 79-82, touching 84 once in that inning, with late run on it. Gave up a bit of velocity in a slide step, working more 78-80 when there. Showed a four pitch mix, change-up at 71 with some armspeed and run. Slider was 69-70 with late 10/4 break and some armspeed. Also showed a 12/6 curveball that was 65 once. Slider is his primary breaking pitch, curve more of a show pitch. Results weren't good against a good Freedom lineup, but he kept competing and attacked the strikezone with all of his pitches. Will need to improve command within the strikezone as he continues to develop, but there is a lot of upside for Cheifetz going forward as he adds strength and fills out his frame.

Freshman Free Showcase

Cheifetz is 5-11 with a lankier athletic frame that has a lot projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, loads back, hips rotate completely, some balance to swing. Shows some quickness and strength in his swing Short to ball, level start to path, slightly uphill through contact, keeps hands short and inside the ball, exit velocity was 84. In outfield, gets body behind ball and fields through it, average hands, good footwork. Quick clean exchange, throws from low three quarters arm slot with some life, position velocity was 81. Home to first was 4.05. On the mound, he throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot with a long loose arm action that is free and very quick and easy effort. Shoulders slightly closed and uphill, lands slightly closed with some fall off and recoil. Hides ball well and creates deception, good rhythm and a repeatable delivery. Fastball was 79-81, touching 82, with some plane and late two-plane movement to it. Curveball was 62-64 with good armspeed and gradual 12/6 break that has good shape and should sharpen as he gets stronger. Change-up was 67-69 with some armspeed and late fade to it. Slider was 71-73 with good armspeed and late sharp 10/4 break, pitch flashes swing and miss already. Showed feel and command of all four pitches, very advanced for his age.
