Great Bridge
Classification: VHSL 4A/ Region A 2022 Record: 16-7
Great Bridge lost a tough one in the playoffs to Grafton. The Wildcats will return a couple of their arms that will allow them to compete in the region, and potentially further. Adam Emhoff (Hampden-Sydney), Mike Keough (Wilson College), Dawson Newman, and Caden Ward (Moravian) could be leaders in the clubhouse and on the mound, as well as potential offensive contributions from both. 4A in the 757 has been up and down, this year I would look for the Wildcats to be a frontrunner to come out of the beach area.
Key Returners:
Grafton
Classification: VHSL 4A/ Region A 2022 Record: 11-12 *Regional Champions*
The Grafton Clippers return a handful of starters, along with five arms from the 2022 campaign. Colt Sandiford was a 2nd Team All-Region Outfielder in 2022 and returns as one of the key pieces for Grafton. David Smith and Noah Secrist should be some of the main arms in 2023, but they will have to fill some big innings thrown by Frankie Engel (Lynchburg). Another name to know for the Clippers is senior Jaxon Powell (William Peace) who could be a run producer. They have plenty of upperclassmen in the lineup with seniors Carter Hayes, Blaine Griffin, and Brady Norris returning and will look to go back to back with the Regional Championship.
