The Virginia Underclass Games were held on June 20th, 2018 on the campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. Our final installment of Rapid reaction looks at a few of the position player who stuck out at this loaded event.

Ryland Brown OF / Greenbrier Christian, VA / 2020

Brown looks to be one of the more offensive prospect in the state with his explosive swing and power potential. Brown made some of the loudest contact of the event with his at bats, crushing the ball with pull side power and looking like there aren't too many fastballs that can get by this physical right handed hitting outfielder.

Jonathan Compton C / OF / Gate City, VA / 2020

Compton again put up another solid workout at the Underclass games, showing an arm that can play in the outfield along with his quick exchange and release from behind the plate with a pop time just under 2.0. His athleticism will make him a versatile prospect with the ability to play a couple of positions on the field. Compton had one of the top exit velocities of the event showing off his explosive swing and strength on the offensive end. There is still rawness to his game that leads you to believe that his best years are still ahead.

Chase Davis 2B / OF / Brookville, VA / 2020

Davis was all over the diamond at this event showing te ability to play either the infield or outfield and provide solid defensive play at multiple positions. He showed a strong arm across the diamond and from the outfield and his shorter swing looks like he will be a table setter down the road with the ability to spray the ball.

Eddie Eisert SS / RHP / Bishop O'Connell, VA / 2020

Eisert passes the eye test immediately when he steps on the diamond with his lanky and projectable 6-foot-3 frame. The switch hitting middle infielder shows sound actions from the field and will settle in somewhere on the left side of the infield, looking comfortable at both short and third. Offensively Eisert showed more pop at the plate from the right side with quick hands and an explosive swing, while his left handed swing looked to be more gap to gap and got better and more fluid as the day progressed. The ceiling is high on Eisert as well as his two way potential.

Grayson Bush SS / 2B / Monticello, VA / 2020

Another solid middle infielder, Bush showed the versatility around the infield with his quick hands and sound actions in the middle and the arm to play. Bush has a short swing at the plate with a knack for getting barrel on the ball, spraying it around the diamond. His quick hands and release were best displayed during a few double play turns where his ability to get rid of the ball with accuracy stood out.

Trent Jones OF / SS / Cape Henry, VA / 2020

Jones quietly put together one of the better total workouts on the day. Jones showed off one of the top outfield velocities with 85 from the outfield and had a very respectable 87 mph on his exit velocity that showed his strength. A young and projectable frame leads to believe this 2020 product out of Cape Henry in the Beach area will be one to keep an eye on.

Jaron McNeil OF / RHP / Dinwiddie , VA / 2021

Our exciting 2021 out of Dinwiddie high school continued to impress with his overall athleticism and looks to be a premium outfield prospect in the state with his combination of speed, arm strength, and projection. McNeil was a effortless 87 mph from the outfield and played plus defense from the outfield covering planet of ground in center as well as gettingan outfield assist with room to spare. At the plate he prjects to be a gap to gap type hitter with bat speed and be a pest on the base paths as well. He has all the tools that McNeil will definitely be a player to follow out of the 2021 class.

Lew Rice C / 3B / Collegiate , VA / 2020

Rice has recently reclassed into the 2020 class and the move looks to be a good one for this offensive catching / infield prospect out of Collegiate. Rice took some of the best BP on the day and kept swinging a hot barrel in the games, punishing the baseballwith loud contact. He has an aggressive swing at the plate looking to lift the baseball and should be a power hitting prospect at the next level. Behind the dish Rice had sub- 2.0 pops to second and showed versatility with his ability to smoothly play the infield as well. Stock is rising on this talent.

Jackson Severt C / 2B / Dinwiddie, VA / 2021

Severt is going to be a 2021 catching prospect to keep an eye on with his lanky projectable frame and arm strength from behind the dish. Severt looks to be an advanced receiver and had an event best pop with a 1.96 to second bases on a line. Severt was consistently sub 2.0 during the workout portion and looked very good behind the plate as a receiver. At the plate, Severt has a solid foundation with a shorter stroke and quick hand at the plate who should continue to devlop on the offensive end.

Bryce Suters SS / OF / Broadway, VA / 2021

A slick fielding infielder, Suters impressed very much during this event and project very well down the road. Suters showed very fluid and clean actions from te shortstop position and looks more than capable of handling any infield position. His hands are true with a quick exchange and was 82 mph across the diamond that should only increase as he matures. At the plate it is short and direct at the plate and he uses his physical 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame well who should continue to develop into a very interesting prospect. Suters will be one to keep an eye on down the road.
