Albemarle

Alex Bingler LHP / OF / Albemarle, VA / 2023

6-foot-2, 170-pound evenly proportioned frame. Slight drop and drive down the mound and lands closed. Delivery builds up intent, full arm action that hides it well, and throws from a slightly lower three-quarter arm slot. Arm side run to the 81-84 mph fastball that gets the action on both sides of the plate. Touched 85 twice in the first and settled more in the 81-83 mph range over the next two innings. The breaking ball was pretty strong, the few times that he threw it early in the game. It had some depth and horizontal break to it at 70-72 mph. The breaking ball had the makings of a legitimate out pitch. Struck out six in the first two innings and finished with twelve over five innings of work.

Jack McMullan C / 3B / Albemarle , VA / 2023

6-foot-1, 185-pound frame with proportional strength throughout the frame. First thing you notice about McMullan is his vocal leadership behind the plate. From the bullpen to the field, he is always communicating with his pitchers. Above average hand strength and throws showed some carry. Offensively, McMullan starts with a slightly wider base. Heel lift and no stride. Hands have rhythm, controlled load, and delivers a heavy barrel. The velo he was facing was well below average, but like many high school hitters, sometimes players have a hard time adjusting to velo dropoffs and have timing issues. He did not. I think the simplicity of the swing helps, but even more so I think that he has a feel for timing and for his swing in general.
