Trent Jones, OF, Western Branch, 2017
Jones committed to Gardner-Webb. Jones stands an athletic 6-2 and he has a strong lower half. He hits from the right side and has a tall stance. He loads back and takes a long stride forward. He has a solid lower half and maintains balance throughout his swing. He has above average batspeed and posted an exit velocity of 85 off of the tee last November. Jones has a longer swing path and gets good extension through the baseball. He had good rhythm during his round and showed a good approach, working the ball gap to gap. At third base, Jones has decent first step quickness and average hands. He has a clean exchange and gains ground towards his target. In the outfield, Jones takes good routes to the ball and has a quick, clean exchange. He also throws from a three-quarters arm slot and hit 76 from the outfield last November.
