After releasing the updated Top 200 this week, we would like to highlight some of the big risers in the Top 125 of the 2024 rankings.

*There was not a ton of movement due to a very recent update of the rankings in July*

Callum Early MIF / James River (Midlothian), VA / 2024

We first got to see the strides that Early has made during this past spring season. More so than anything, his versatility at the plate jumped out. It was a low swing and miss rate, used the whole field in approach, ran well, and showed some ability to keep the corners honest with the bunt game. His performance this summer in the 16U Summer Championship in Richmond only enhanced our opinion of Early. The middle infielder then made the trip to Lakepoint where he showed out not only at the plate, but flashed the leather as well. Made a really impressive play to his backhand side where he got around a topped groundball, set the angle, and threw on the run against his body on target to throw out the batter runner. Has a quietness to his game, but possesses some loud tools to bring consistency to his game.

Logan Eisenreich RHP / OF / Paul VI, VA / 2024

One of the more electric arms we saw in scout days this summer. Up to 88 at Stars Scout Day. There's some pace and intent to the delivery. Quick arm, the fastball is heavy, and showed some nice feel for secondary. Eisenreich has a chance to be one of the premier NOVA arms in the 2024 class with plenty of ceiling left.

Chad Martin LHP / 1B / Glen Allen , VA / 2024

We first saw Martin in game late this spring where he came in late relief versus Independence. Martin was up to 85 in that brief look and featured mostly all fastballs. With the funkiness to the slot and delivery, the left hander does not have to do much else to be successful. That night he showed a few breaking balls, and has flashed some in other appearances as well, but it seems that the secondary is still a work in progress. Martin is a "data darling" and is so effective when in thee zone due to the release, spin, IVB, and other attributes inside of his data profile.

AJ Murray RHP / 3B / Bishop O'Connell, VA / 2024

Murray has a durable 6-foot-1 frame. We saw Murray versus a strong offensive team, the Padres Scout team, and he handled himself really well. Longer arm swing, three-quarter slot, and hand speed through release. Murray showed some starter profile with the ability to get whiffs on the fastball and showed two secondary pitches with feel for both. Really got on top of the 12/6 curveball and it was more of an early count, get ahead type pitch, while the slider has makings of a legitimate out pitch. Still ceiling left to this right hander and would imagine he has a chance to be a frontline arm for O'Connell this spring, after they lost a plethora of senior arms.

Gary Tompkins RHP / SS / Colonial Beach , VA / 2024

Tompkins has a lanky 6-foot-3 frame with room to grow. The right hander was a standout at the 16U Summer Championships for the Stars. Was up to 86, created angle on the fastball, and showed a hard secondary pitch at 77-79 mph. He calls it a slider, but it has more of the makings of a cutter with short, late action. Has some slight crossfire when he lands closed and forces some carry away from right handers. Another intriguing arm out of the NOVA area.
