Nearly two dozen players made significant jumps in the most recent 2024 rankings update. We have highlighted multiple players through our High & Tight podcast, rankings release stories, and now we will take a look at a few more that have made a jump.
Big Risers
Aidan van Baars RHP / Robinson Secondary, VA / 2024The Coastal Carolina commit works from a higher slot with above average arm speed. The fastball has been mid 80's and has shown feel for a downer breaking ball that gets some swings and misses out of the zone.
Jack Nance RHP / McLean , VA / 2024As we have discussed in other articles and podcasts with Nance, this is a high ceiling arm that has a chance to be a head turner this spring. The fastball jumps and can overpower hitters and should only get better as he continues to add polish to the spin.
Jackson Hamill OF / Mountain View , VA / 2024Really like the physicality to this 2024. Hamill is an above average runner, arm strength in the outfield, and the arm strength translates to the mound. There is some polish left to add on the mound and upside to the two-way potential.
Kyle Ausgotharp OF / Freedom, VA / 20246-foot-3 frame, long limbs, and room to add strength. Well above average hand speed and ability to spray the ball around the field with doubles power.
DANIEL SMITH RHP / Granby , VA / 2024Smith became one of the tougher arms late last spring, as he helped lead Granby to a state semifinal appearance. He is not going to overpower hitters, but the slot and length can make him a tough look at the plate. This arm has some ceiling left and plenty of room to add strength.
Jackson Wilburn C / Gonzaga College, VA / 2024Left handed hitting catcher with a quick release and accuracy around the bag. Hit tool type of bat that sprays line drives around the field.
