In early August, Prep Baseball Report VA/DC updated and expanded its Class of 2018 Rankings, going from 130 players to 180 while also moving players that were ranked based on what we have seen at our events and on the road scouting all spring and summer. Now that the rankings have been released, we take a closer look at them in today's spotlight:

SCOUTING REPORT

2.18.17:  Leathers is 6-0 tall and has a lankier athletic frame, throwing from a low three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. Short, quick arm action and some effort to delivery. Shoulders are uphill and on line, landing is square with athletic finish. Fastball had heavy arm side run, sitting 77-80. Curveball had sharp 10/4 break, running 64-69 with some armspeed. Change-up had good armspeed and fading action, running 75-76. At the plate, hits from the right side from an open athletic stance, toe tap stride, smooth load back and good rhythm. Good hip explosion and good balance to swing. Short line drive swing, works uphill through the ball with some extension. Mostly worked middle of field but flashed some pull tendencies, exit velocity was 82. At short, clean footwork and above average hands. Clean exchange, throws from low three-quarters arm slot, infield velocity was 75. Ran a 7.33 60.
