Scouting Report

8.9.17:  Walton is 6-1 and has a strong lower half, he hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance. Strides on line, loads back with some rhythm. Hips rotate and maintains good balance throughout swing. Short and quick to ball, uphill path with some extension through the ball, pull preference, line drive swing, exit velocity was 85. At first, gets behind ball and fields with average hands. Short arm action, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, infield velocity was 75. On the mound, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a short, free arm action and normal effort. Shoulders uphill and closed, lands square with an athletic finish and some recoil. Fastball was 77-82 with late run and sink. Slider was 68 with hard 10/4 break and some armspeed. Change-up was 62 with sinking action. Has pitchability and commands fastball/sider combo well.

7.15.17:  Walton has a strong lower half, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action and normal effort. Shoulders level and closed, lands square and falls off while recoiling. Fastball was 81-83, touching 84 with late run. Pounded the zone to both sides of the plate with fastball. Slider was 69-72 with late 10/4 break, got swing and misses with the pitch. Showed a sinking change-up during warmups.

5.15.17: Build up delivery throwing from a ¾ slot. Solid frame. Used steady mix of fastball and a sweeping breaking ball with depth and gradual action. Fastball was 78-80 touching 81. Breaking ball was 64-67 and showed lot on confidence in the pitch. Showed pop at the plate with more of a pull approach and some pop, getting two hits on the day with a level path at the plate.
