26 players from the Old Line State, Virginia, and Pennsylvania participated in this year's Top Prospect Games West at Frederick CC. Players were put through a pro-style workout and played a game in front of our PBR Maryland staff and various college coaches from across the Mid-Atlantic region. Below are evaluations on the five corner infielders at the event.

Corner INFIELDERS

(Listed Alphabetically)

Allen Baxter 1B / LHP / Sherwood , MD / 2023

Body: 6’0”, 175 pounds. Strong, well put together frame with a sturdy base.
Hit: LHH. Wide, even stance with the barrel showing slight rhythm above the shoulder to start. Utilized a sudden lift and replace stride and bow-and-arrow load to initiate the hands through a flat path into the hitting zone. Mostly line drive approach into a medium/high finish allowing for occasional lift on pitches up in the zone. Peppered the pull side mostly with occasional success finding the RCF with hard contact.
Power: 89 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Doubles power to pull especially when getting into extension through the baseball.
Arm: LH. INF - 69 mph. Quick takeaway to a moderately deep position, used a ¾ slot on the release with accurate results.
Defense: Average footwork arriving on time with a semi-soft glove hand out in front of the right foot. Funneled inward with a clean exchange to the throwing ear before generating straight line momentum towards the target.
Run: 7.93 60-yard time.

Sean Deaner 1B / 3B / Aberdeen , MD / 2022

Body: 6’0”, 195 pounds. Strong, thick frame with noticeable physicality in the box.
Hit: LHH. Wide, slightly open stance as the hands wiggled at head-height for rhythm. Utilized a short lift and replace stride with a methodical weight shift into the front side at impact, yielding hard connected impact to the pull-side during batting practice. Timing hitter with feel for the top hand in the swing, peppering pitches up above the belt for extra-bases. Could go backside when pitched there, but favored RCF gap mostly. Twitchy hand speed (26+ mph per Blast Motion) points towards more power potential on the way.
Power: 86 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Doubles power to pull, success when pitched up in the zone for hard contact.
Arm: RH. INF - 74 mph. Short on the backside and long on the front getting extended after release.
Defense: Chopped the feet before arriving on time at the ball with average pace. Feel around the bag with slight bend in the knees, the glove hand corralled off the left side and funneled inward before releasing across the diamond.
Run: 8.18 60-yard time.

Brayden Heaps 3B / RHP / Susquehannock, PA / 2023

Body: 5’10”, 175 pounds. Strong, athletic frame with tangible proportions throughout.
Hit: RHH. Balanced, even stance at an upright position with quick rhythm in the hands at shoulder height. Utilized a short lift and replace stride and stretched load to initiate the bat head through a flat path into the hitting zone. High finish allowing for occasional lift and backspin to the pull side gap while hitting into a stiff front side. Generated a noticeable 25.7 G’s of rotational acceleration, flashing early connection and usable power at the plate.
Power: 89 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Power is going to come in waves, already doing damage to pull-side on pitches out over the plate.
Arm: RH. INF - 73 mph. Low ¾ to ¾ slot on the release with a slight bend in the elbow, accurate on the bag and can manipulate arm angles on the run.
Defense: Hop in the prep step getting to a wide base and reacting with a quick first step on the toes. Above-average defensive qualities as the ball worked in/out of the glove with consistency. Range showed traveling easily to his glove hand side and finishing plays on the run.
Run: 7.60 60-yard time.

Joseph McMannis RHP / 3B / Catoctin , MD / 2023

Body: 6’4”, 210 pounds. Athletic, physical, and still projectable yet with ability to add more strength onto an already advanced frame.
Hit: RHH. Narrow, slightly open stance with minor backload into the right drive leg as the hands showed loose/high at the shoulder. Utilized a leg kick stride in order to initiate the bat head through a whippy, slightly uphill path with serious bat speed upon launch. Weight shifts into a stiff front side that blocks off properly creating big time damage when on time. Increased stretch and torque yielding extra base hits and multiple home run bids to the pull-side. 386 foot max distance per Trackman Baseball.
Power: 98 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Home run juice to pull and can pepper either gap with consistent doubles juice even on mishits. The bat speed plays up a few ticks.
Arm: RH. INF - 84 mph. Shorter arm action from a ¾ slot that carried to the bag with accuracy.
Defense: Gained ground with leverage in the hands out in front, wide base and low posture allowing a soft glove hand to operate with ease and funnel inward towards a clean exchange. Solid pace and gained ground using a hop in the prep step for bounce in either direction.
Run: 7.37 60-yard time.

Ricky Rice 3B / RHP / Stafford, VA / 2022

Body: 6’0”, 185 pounds. Sturdy, stocky frame with lower have strength.
Hit: Switch. The switch hitter mirrors from both sides of the plate, though getting more stretch and juice as a right-handed hitter. Utilized a backloaded setup with a gather load to the shoulder allowing for a connected drive out into the baseball at impact. Had success with a flat path peppering the middle of the field as a righty with extra base hit potential to pull. As a lefty, sprayed contact on the ground with the ability to find barrels on a line to RF. Can swing it from both sides well.
Power: 86 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Singles power and occasionally can lift for extra bases (LHH), ready doubles power as a RHH with success staying on the baseball from a stretched position.
Arm: RH. INF - 73 mph. Short arm circle with a quick release from low ¾ (accurate on the bag).
Defense: Hop in the prep step, gets the upper half down over the toes with slight bend in the knees, handled hops to the glove side with early recognition on slow rollers off the bat.
Run: 8.67 60-yard time.
