The Virginia Fall Invite combined with the Unsigned senior showcase this past Sunday after weather cancelled our event on October 29th. The Virginia Sports complex played host to the event after we moved inside due to another wet weekend. Today we give you our rapid reaction after having a few days to let marinate.

An exciting prospect in the 2020 class came onto our scene in Gate City HS C/OF Jonathan Compton. Compton had the most impressive workout on the day showing off multiple tools and high ceiling. Physically advanced for his age at 5-foot-11, 170-pounds. Compton Showed strength at the plate with fast bat speed and a 94 mph exit velocity, while showing arm strength with an outfield velocity of 85 mph and a catcher velocity at 77 mph with a pop that got as low as 2.02. Equally impressive was Compton running a 6.69 on a slower, damp outfield at the Complex. Compton will definitely be one to keep an eye on down the road.

During the pitching portion of the workout, 2019 RHP Matthew Michel of Highland school quickly became one of the more impressive prospects on the day with a lanky 6-foot-3 frame and a longer arm action that translated to a fastball up to 87 mph on the day. Michel sat 85-87 during his bullpen with a 74 mph BB with some depth on the pitch and a 81 mph change up that showed potential.

2018 C Michael Warley of Hanover again showed why we have him as one of the top uncommitted seniors in the state with a solid overall workout on the day. Warley showed a quick exchange and release from behind the plate with a pop range of 2.03 – 2.10. At the plate, Warley has a compact and explosive swing at the plate with a gap-to-gap approach and the ability to drive the ball as well.

2019 IF Brooks Mazey looks to be an interesting middle infield prospect who had a solid workout on the day showing a quick bat at the plate with a level swing path and exit velocity up to 86 mph. He had sound action defensively and showed off a position velocity of 77 mph. That arm should improve as he works through his throws a bit more as he has some recoil in his lower half right now. Mazey ran a 7.14 on the damp outfield.

2019 IF Zach Stanko again had a strong workout, showing smooth action in the field with strength at the plate. Stanko showed off a fast bat with uphill finish, wanting to drive the ball. He ran a 7.20 60-yard dash.

2018 OF/RHP Brian Hennessey (WT Woodson) made for an intriguing two way prospect with a long level swing path at the plate showing bat speed, while also getting up to 83 mph on the mound...St. John's College 2018 IF/RHP Matthew Rhodes also showed two way potential with a 7.18 60-yard dash and sound action from the infield to go with some strength at the plate. Rhodes was on the mound as a submarine reliever up to 74 mph...2020 C Chris Polymeropoulos (James Madison) showed to be a solid prospect in the Richmond Braves organization, running a 7.21 60-yard dash with a pop as low as 2.14...2020 RHP/SS Blake Fisher (Highland) was up to 81 on the mound with a loose and projectably arm who has a young body that should continue to get stronger. 2020 RHP Charlie Ganote (Woodrow Wilson, DC) was another interesting pitching prospect with a free arm action and fastball up to 83 mph on the day.
