Q&A With Virginia Tech Commit: Paul Hall

We recently had the opportunity to sit down with Virginia Tech commit Paul Hall. On April 28th, Hall, who is 6-foot, 160-pound LHP from Maury HS in Norfolk, VA made his verbal commitment to the ACC school.

Why did you choose Virginia Tech?

Hall: I chose Virginia Tech because it’s a program that is going in the right direction and improving every year. I also really loved the campus the second I began my visit, as well as I really liked the coaching staff and how they treated me as a recruit.

What other schools were you considering?

Hall: In the recruiting process, I had a really opened mind towards it. I didn't necessarily have a top school when it all began, I was weighing every option and where I could see myself best fitting for my education and a place I knew I could improve in my game.

Where did Virginia Tech first see you?

Hall: Virginia Tech came to a few of my starts in the fall of my Sophomore year with the Evoshield Canes, and they really caught my attention when they came during my Sophomore spring season in High School down in North Carolina for a spring break tournament, and it showed me that they were committed to pursuing me.

What other factors made Virginia Tech the school that you want to attend?

Hall: A major factor that came into play was the education, an environment where I can thrive and get a degree. Another important factor was that Tech is not too far from home, so my family can come and watch me pitch as they wish.

What do you think you will be able to offer Virginia Tech throughout your career?

Hall: The things I will bring to Virginia Tech are a very hard-working mentality, always wanting to get better, my ability to listen to instruction, and most importantly to give them my best effort every time I step on the mound to help the team win.

What do plan on doing this offseason to prepare yourself for the high school and your freshman fall?

Hall: During the off-season the biggest thing I plan on doing is going to the gym and getting stronger. Secondly, during the summer headed into my freshman year I want to improve my mechanics to help myself get that edge and work on all my pitches and keep making them better.

Who was the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Hall: The person that's had the biggest impact on my baseball career is my Dad. He's coached me since I started playing and still continues too, he may not be on the field coaching me but he's always giving me advice. Whether it be how to learn the pitch counts, my amount of rest, and always supporting me. As well as getting me to my tournaments, and the investment he puts in for summer ball and fall ball with the Canes.

Who is the best hitter you have faced?

Hall: The best hitter I have faced was a former teammate of mine Joseph "Jojo" Jackson.
