PBR VA/DC State Player of The Year Announced
June 29, 2021
Prep Baseball Report is excited for the return of Player of the Year Awards, presented by Big League Chew, after the 2020 season was cut short and 2021 generated some incredible individual moments and performances throughout Virginia and DC. As the high school season has come to a close and we move into summer ball, Prep Baseball Report is excited to announce one player who emerged ahead of the competition at all levels in the state. This player has been selected not only for their outstanding statistical numbers, but also for their overall effect on their high school program.
James Triantos
Triantos led James Madison to the VHSL Class 6 State Championship, coming two outs short of tossing a Perfect Game in the State Championship Game. In 19 games this spring, he hit .712 with an .800 OBP and 10 2B, 11 HR, 27 RBI, 44 R, hitting out of the leadoff spot all season. He walked 23 times and struck out just twice while going 23/23 on stolen bases. On the mound, he had 9 starts and went 9-0, 47.1 IP, 66 K, 15 H, 14 BB, 1.18 ERA, and a 0.61 WHIP.
James Triantos’ all-around performance, as well as the impact he has had on Madison High School, has earned him the 2021 Prep Baseball Report Virginia/DC Player of the Year honors.
Triantos has been selected by the staff of Prep Baseball Report of Virginia/DC. The team of PBR area scouts who covered the high school baseball season throughout the spring selected Triantos amongst a strong group of candidates from across the Commonwealth and the District. The Prep Baseball Report staff has been diligently scouting and covering games at diamonds across the state this spring to bring parents, athletes and fans the most comprehensive coverage of amateur baseball across the United States. The dedication and coverage allow Prep Baseball Report a credible way to identify the top athletes each year who best represent the state of Iowa.
