NEW FACES TO THE 2018 RANKINGS  

Hunter Andrews OF / RHP / St. Christopher's, VA / 2018 Andrews is 5-9 with an athletic frame, he hits from the right side from an upright balanced stance. Short stride on line, smooth load back to a bar, some rhythm to his swing. Explosive lower half and good balance to swing. Quick to ball, level to slightly uphill swing, slight pull tendency with extension through the ball to pull side. Exit velocity was 87. In the outfield, clean feet, gets behind the ball and plays through it with a clean exchange. Throws from three-quarters arm slot with a loose action and some carry, outfield velocity was 85, showed some accuracy to throws. 60 time was 7.32.

 

Peter Cocolis C / Robinson, VA / 2018 Cocolis is 6-0 and hits from the right side from a crouched athletic stance. Short stride on line, smooth load back, explosive lower half with some balance to his swing. Quick to ball, works uphill through it with extension. Pull fly ball approach with some barrel awareness and power potential, exit velocity 89. Behind the plate, quick exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action. Pop times 1.97-2.08 with accuracy to his throws, position velocity was 74. Athletic footwork, ran a 7.34 60 yard dash.

 

Jon Thomas Fitzpatrick 3B / 2B / Atlee, VA / 2018 Fitzpatrick is 5-11 with an athletic frame, he hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced stance. Short leg kick stride on line, smooth load back to a bar, some rhythm to his swing. Some hip rotation and good balance to swing. Level line drive swing, pull preference with some pop to pull side, exit velocity was 92. At third, clean footwork and fields ball with above average hands. Quick clean exchange, works through ball to throw from a low three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action, infield velocity was 80. Ran a 7.28 60 yard dash.

 

Mark Loving RHP / 2B / Benedictine, VA / 2018 Loving is 6-2 with an athletic frame, has a drop and drive delivery and throws from a higher three-quarters arm slot with a shorter, free quick arm action and normal effort. Good rhythm to delivery, shoulders are closed and uphill, lands on line with a slight fall off finish. Fastball was 81-85 with downward plane and some late sink to it. Curveball was 64-66 with hard sharp 11/5 break and good armspeed. Change-up was 68-70 with late run and some armspeed. Good feel for all three pitches.

 

Brett Stallings SS / 2B / West Springfield, VA / 2018 Stallings is 6-0 with a lanky frame, he hits from the right side with a wide base and a balanced athletic stance. Short stride on line, smooth load back, slight wrap and some rhythm to his swing. Explosive lower half and good balance to his swing. Quick to ball, works uphill with extension through it, line drive swing but a pull fly ball approach, exit velocity was 78. At short, rounds ball and fields with a wider base and above average hands. Clean exchange, works through the ball, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with loose arm action, infield velocity was 84. Ran a 7.18 60 yard dash.

 

Pascal Roberts 3B / 2B / W.T. Woodson, VA / 2018 Roberts is 5-7 with an athletic frame and a strong lower half. He hits from the left side from a slightly open, balanced athletic stance. Strides on line, smooth load back, explosive lower half and some balance to swing. Uphill swing path with a pull preference, exit velocity was 82. At third, fields with a wide base and average hands. Clean exchange, works through the ball to throw from a three-quarters arm slot, short arm action, infield velocity was 80. Ran a 7.38 60 yard dash.

 

Jackson Russell OF / Robinson, VA / 2018 Russell is 5-7 with an athletic frame and a strong lower half, hits from the right side from an open athletic stance. Short leg kick stride on line, smooth load back, good rhythm to swing. Explosive lower half and some balance to swing. Short and quick to ball, slightly uphill path with extension through the ball, line drive swing with slight pull preference, exit velocity was 84 and showed easy doubles power in the game. In the outfield, clean feet, gets behind ball and then fields with above average hands. Plays through ball to a quick clean exchange. Throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot, outfield velocity was 86. Ran a 7.32 60 yard dash.

 

Justin Parker RHP / OF / Matoaca, VA / 2018 Parker is 6-1 with a lanky frame, he hits from the right side from an open athletic stance. Leg kick stride on line, short load back, some rhythm to swing. Explosive hips and some balance to swing. Short to the ball, level path, stands up as he finishes creating uphill angle, pull tendency with an exit velocity of 83. In the outfield, gets behind the ball with clean feet, plays through the ball, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a loose quick arm, outfield velocity was 90 with easy effort. Ran a 7.0 60 yard dash. On the mound, throws from a submarine slot, drop and drive delivery, shorter free arm action, normal effort. Lands closed with a fall off to armside in his finish. Fastball was 77-80 with heavy late sink. Change-up was 70-71 with heavy run and some armspeed. Curveball was 62-64 with gradual sweeping action.

 

Matthew Kane SS / 2B / Colgan, VA / 2018 Projectable, athletic frame at 5-foot-11, 165-pounds. Hits from a slightly open, athletic set up with weight slightly forward at the plate. Has a smooth load shifting weight back to hitting position with short leg lift and occasional arm bar in load as he squares up. Level swig path with uphill finish and quick hands through the zone and shows extension through contact.Nice lower half as he does get it involved. Nice rhythm throughout swing. Exit velocity of 84 on the day. Active feet in the infield. sound fundamentals with clean hands to a funnel to belly button and works through the ball. Smooth exchange to release throwing from a three quarter slot. Throws are accurate and had a velocity of 83 mph. Ran a 7.03 60 yard dash on the day.

 

Tucker Bushby OF / James River - Midlothian, VA / 2018 Bushby is 5-10 with an athletic frame, he hits from the right side from an athletic stance. Short leg kick stride, short smooth load back. Explosive lower half and some balance to swing. Short to ball, works uphill with a pull fly ball approach, showed some barrel awareness, exit velocity was 83. In the outfield, quick clean footwork, gets behind ball and fields with above average hands. Quick clean exchange, throws from an over the top arm slot with a short, free arm action, outfield velocity was 83. Ran a 6.93 60 yard dash.
