On Thursday, August 20, NOVA Premier held a Scout Day with PBR in attendance to take stats and video of all the players that participated. On Friday, we posted the Statistical Leaders from the event as well as all stats being placed on their profiles. Today, we highlight a few players who had standout performances.
Billy Adkins SS / 2B / Freedom (South Riding), VA / 2021Adkins has some two-way potential and plenty of projection left to his frame. At the plate, showed good approach working gap to gap, and his short swing generates power in the gaps.
On the mound, showed two pitches with a very high spin breaking ball with good armspeed.
Adam Chow OF / LHP / Broad Run, VA / 2021Chow is also an interesting two-way talent. Generates a lot of power from the left side of the plate with a quick violent swing. Also has the ability to be effective on the mound from the left side.
On the mound, fastball/change-up work well together, very good armspeed on the change-up.
Wesley Clarke RHP / OF / Marshall, VA / 2021Clark has a lot of projection left in his frame and a chance to add velocity as he continues to add strength. Threw a very good slider with sharp late break that has a chance to be a very good pitch at the next level.
Depending on the level, his bat has the potential to play as well. He had one of the better live exit velocities on the day during BP and generates power in the gaps.
Corey Coogan SS / 2B / Briar Woods, VA / 2021Coogan has feel for the barrel that he displayed in the game. Uses the whole field well, line drives with some extra base power, and was on the barrel and on time in every at-bat.
Joe Ferguson C / OF / Broad Run, VA / 2021Ferguson is a good catch and throw guy as well as a good bat. Posted the best pop time of the night and was in the 1.93-2.02 range on his throws. At the plate, slightly uphill swing path with strength at contact, generates power and the ball carries off of his bat.
Zach Mazur SS / 3B / Stone Bridge, VA / 2021Mazur had the best BP round and also barreled a few balls in the game as well as posting the top live exit velocity of the night, 96. He has a fast bat and a slightly uphill line drive approach and the ball really carries in the gaps off of his bat.
John McAleer OF / Independence , VA / 2021McAleer has some strength present already and plenty of projection still left to him. He has a quick bat with some power already present. Had a knack for the barrel in game as well.
Ryan Morrison LHP / OF / Freedom (South Riding), VA / 2022Morrison has a lankier frame that has projection left to it. Quick arm action that is loose, curveball has a chance to tighten into a good pitch and he has the potential to add a tick or two to his velocity.
Tyler Muscar LHP / 1B / Westfield, VA / 2021Muscar is a James Madison commit. He has a big long lanky frame that has a ton of projection left to it. Easy effort fast arm, ball explodes out of his hand. Only worked fastball/change-up. Low arm slot and his length creates a real tough angle for all hitters, and his fastball just takes off in the last 10 feet towards home plate.
Drew Petitt OF / 2B / Briar Woods , VA / 2021We've seen a lot of Petitt this summer and he never ceases to impress. Short swing consistently barrels the ball. Works gap to gap with easy extra base power and some home run pop when he turns on the ball.
Matthew Stevenson 1B / LHP / Stone Bridge, VA / 2021Stevenson has big tall frame and long levers. Has a lot of power from the left side, swing is uphill and generates a lot of loft and carry. Took his BP round with wood and was still easily putting balls out.
