James River (Midlothian) Upset No. 3 Hanover, 13-4

The James River (Midlothian) Rapids jumped out to an 8-1 lead after four innings and added five more runs in an upset of perennial 4A power and No. 3 in the VA/DC Power 25, Hanover 13-4.
A brisk spring night in the Richmond area saw Hanover's home opener as Hawks senior Will Lopez (VMI) got the start for Hanover and James River sent senior Skylar Petry to try and shut Hanover down.
James River was able to put runs up early and often as they jumped out 2-0 lead in the first inning. Hanover was able to keep it a 4-1 ballgame entering the fourth, but James River was able to add on four more runs, making it a 8-1 game after four innings. Sophomore catcher Jeff Daddio highlighted the inning with a double driving in two runs.
Hanover managed to score three more runs in the fifth when Camden Grimes (Virginia Tech) worked a walk that forced home a run, the next batter, Jack Dragum (Virginia), dumped a single into right that brought home two more runs for the Hawks.
James River capped the night off plating three more runs in the top of the seventh with some help from a couple of Hanover errors. Sophomore Jack Anderson (Army) closed the door for the Rapids throwing two scoreless innings, while only managing to surrender one hit across the final two frames.
Petry pitched strong (5 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 BB, 4 K) for James River and at the plate he added a double scoring two runs. Jeff Daddio led the Rapids offensive attack going 2-5 with 3 RBI, Benton Hausser collected 3 RBI, and Tucker Bushby added 2 RBI as well. Jack Anderson's pitching line 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K.
Dragum went 1-3 with two RBI and Colby Hutnan managed to score twice while collecting a single and walk.
