Scouting Report
Strong projectable frame standing 6-foot-1, 185-pounds. Hits from the left side with a balanced athletic setup. Starts square, simple toe tap stride forward, and lands on line. Short to the ball, slight uphill tilt to the swing, and bat is quick out of the zone. Swing has some natural loft built in and some power potential, especially to the pull side. Exit velocity was 88 mph. Defensively Power moved well around the bag. Glove presented out front, clean exchange, and a short arm action from a higher three-quarter arm slot. Arm strength was 78 mph. Ran a 7.75 60.
MD Freshman Free Showcase 1.26.19
Solid body type and 6’0’’, 170 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, slightly open stance with a wide base at the plate. Loads hands into position and creates some separation with minimal stride and quick toe tap. Short, quick, slightly uphill swing path that gets level at times. Stays behind the ball well with excellent balance in the box. Generates some lower half involvement in swing and gets nice extension through contact. Would like to see him finish entire swing to get more lower half rotation and power. Recorded a 79 mph exit velocity. Sets up well on ground balls with a solid fundamental base. Works through the ball and fields it nicely out in front of his body. Throws with shorter arm action from a lower three-quarters slot at 73 mph. Quick exchanges with a slight glove tap. Controlled side-step wind-up and small kick out quarter corkscrew into a tall balance point. Controlled delivery with quick, clean hand separation and strong lower half drive. Lands square to the plate with front foot slightly closed and finishes falling off to the third base side. Throws from a mid three-quarters arm slot with quick arm speed and regular effort. Shorter arm action and showed good feel for the fastball and breaking ball. Lived up in the zone for a majority of the bullpen but broke off some very nice breaking balls. Fastball ranged 70-75 mph and breaking ball showed tight spin and big 12/6 shape at 57-62 mph.
