Lee-Davis infielder Austin Morris has committed to attend Eastern Mennonite University in the fall of 2016. Morris is the third current Confederate to commit to continue his baseball career after high school, joining classmate Justin Sorokowski (RHP, 2016, Florida State) and Dallas Jackson (OF, 2017, James Madison). The Confederates had a strong season in 2015, battling through an incredibly tough schedule to reach the Conference Semi-Finals before being eliminated by Douglas Freeman and narrowly missing the 5A South Region Tournament.

Morris hit from an open stance that had a smooth load. His arm did bar slightly during his load and his rhythm was a bit stiff throughout swing. He had a short stride that kept his swing in balance and he used his lower half during his swing. Morris showed average bat speed with a good approach and recorded an Exit Velocity 81 mph at the Pre-Season All-State Showcase in February. His swing path was short and level through the zone and he should be a line drive hitter. In the field, Morris threw from a high three-quarters arm slot with accuracy and he had a Positional velocity of 79 mph in February. He displayed decent hands with clean exchanges and was able to move to the ball well.

When he arrives at Eastern Mennonite, Morris has the chance to contribute as an infielder and has the potential to develop into a hitter who can hit for a decent average with doubles power.
