The PBR Future Games took Place from August 1-4 at Grand Park Indiana, just north of Indianapolis. This premier event of the summer brought over 500 of the top uncommitted 2020 and 2021 grads across the PBR network to perform in front of 253 college and professional scouts from across the country. Today we begin to breakdown Team Mid-Atlantic with full player analysis.
Team Mid-Atlantic Player Breakdown
JT Carter C / OF / Bishop O'Connell, VA / 2021Solid frame with strong lower half at 6-foot, 195-pounds. Ran a -- 60-yard dash. Hits from an athletic set up with hands at shoulder level. Has a smooth rock-back load with leg kick to hitting position and arm bar. Longer swing path through the zone with quick hands and strong barrel. Barrelled well during BP, working the left center gap and showing a middle approach. Power potential down the road. Exit velocity of 91 mph. Presents good target for pitchers to work with. Sound receiver with soft hands and stiicks ball well. Nice hip control and works hard on dirt ball to work hips around. Clean footwork behind the plate with quick exchange to release and a short arm action. Pop time as low as 2.00 on the day with a velo of 79 mph.

Trey Carter OF / RHP / Carlisle, VA / 2020Athletic projectable frame at 6-foot-4, 197-pounds. One of the most exciting prospects that came through the Future Games. High end skill set across the board with a rawness that shows best years are yet to come. Ran a 6.89 60-yard dash. Hits from an athletic set up with bat on shoulder. Heel lift to swing. Explosive hand speed at the plate with a direct path and some extension through contact. quiet lower half with explosiveness. Power to pull side. Exit velocity of 100 mph. Atheltic actions in the outfield. Clean exchange with sound arm action and life on throws from the outfield, getting up to 95 mph. In game showed flashes of what he could be with loud contact in game. On the mound has a controlled compact delivery with average leg kick.Tight, sound arm action with lightining arm speed. Smooth lower half and backside drive. Inconsistent at getting hips through and over front side. Fastball was inconsistent in zone but showed life up to 93 mph. Breaking ball showed flashes of a dominant secondary pitch up to 75 mph with 11/5 shape. A draft prospect already. Still has areas of his game to clean up that, once it happens, could turn Carter into a higher end draft prospect.

Nathan Cmeyla C / 2B / Briar Woods, VA / 2020Athletic frame at 5-foot-11, 175-pounds. Hits from an athletic set up at the plate with high hands. Smooth load back with medium leg kick to hitting position. Short swing with fast bat speed and accelerates through extension. Long through contact with gap to gap ability. Like the rhythm and balance at the plate. Exit velocity of 93 mph. Athletic behind the dish. Handles velo well and sticks the ball. Sound receiving skills. quick exchange with short arm action. one of the top pop times of the event getting as low as 1.93 with velo of 81 mph. Athletic enough to play multiple positions with his speed (6.91 60-yard dash) and hands, but more than handles his own behind the plate. A stock riser from this event.

Jonathan Compton C / OF / Gate City, VA / 2020Strong athletic frame at 5-foot-11, 180-pounds. High end speed from the catching position with a 6.57 60-yard dash. Displays quick twitch with explosiveness. Hits from a balanced set up with hands back above shoulder level. Level swing path with fast bat speed and strength in swing. Power is present to pull side. 98 mph exit velocity. Has quick feet from behind the plate with clean exchange and short arm action to release. Pop as low as 2.16 during the workout with velocity of 76 mph. During games showed off the rare combination of speed and strength. Plays at his speed out of the box on the offensive end. legged out a high chopper through the middle with ease. One-handed a ball just short of the fence to left field in game that turned into a triple. Hits second triple of event on last day with well driven ball to right center. Still some rawness to his game that should only improve his game. Future may end up in the outfield because of his top tier speed.

Travis Garnett LHP / 1B / Indian Creek, MD / 2021Projectable lanky frame at 6-foot-5, 183-pounds. Quick compact delivery to high leg kick that generates. Shows feel for his lower half and gets backside involvement, still room for more. Good job clearing from hip getting over front side. Loose arm action with quick arm speed throwing from a low three-quarter slot. Quiet finished square to the plate. Fastball shows later life on the pitch with run and sink up to 86 mph that ranged 81-85 mph. Breaking ball showed potential as a swing and miss pitch with 12/6 action with gradual break at 74 mph. Showed ability to throw a better late action breaking ball in game with swing and miss potential. Changeup had run to the pitch at 75 mph. Both off-speed pitches he does slow down slightly. In his outing Showed flashes on dominance and very tough on hitters to pick up. Nice tempo in games, but at times almost worked too fast which got him out of sync. Battled and was able to pitch himself out of jams making big pitches. High ceiling arm who has potential to be a special arm with his size, slot, and arm speed.
