Each day this season we will recap the previous night’s scores from the Power 25 as well as any other scores that were reported to us. If you wish to report a score, use this Google Form. Rain wreaked havoc with Tuesday’s slate of games in the southern and eastern portions of the state, delaying the start of the season for many teams, but many teams did get their openers in yesterday.

 

No. 23 The Covenant School 7

Roanoke Catholic 0

The Eagles moved to 3-1 on the season as senior Matt Shobe (Bucknell), and juniors Jacob Haney (William & Mary), Will Moore (William & Mary), and Tyler Mahone (Longwood) combined to toss a twelve strikeout shutout on the mound. Haney also led the offensive attack with three hits and Mahone added two more.

Bruton 2

Junior outfielder Jack Darden went 2-3 with a home run, two RBIs, and two stolen bases as Smithfield won its opener.

Junior righthander James Price started the game and went four scoreless for the Pioneers. Junior centerfielder Jake Jansen was 2-3 with a double and junior designated hitter Kyle Deering went 1-2 with two RBIS.
